I prefer a DJ. I feel like they can provide a wider range of music.

I agree, DJ. Not only do they have a wider range of music, but they can act as MC for the reception, and keep the timeline flowing. They also know how to keep the energy up.

I prefer a DJ. I think if you have a band and you are wanting a variety of different music- You are going to have to be okay with the same band singing every song. It has never been appealing to me. A DJ as PP said can act as MC and everyone having a good time

I think bands can bring such a different energy but they are sooo expensive. So we went with a dj because we prioritized our budget elsewhere.

I'll echo everyone else, plus add that if a band turns out to be not quite as great sounding as you had heard / imagined, or if they are having an off night, or subbing a regular band member, you may be stuck with that sound for the duration of the event.

Definitely a DJ. For all the reasons everyone said. Also, I was turned off of it. Everyone I know personally lost their band a few weeks before and couldn't really mimic the sound they imagined for their wedding. A DJ with similar tastes is easier. Ergo safer.

A live band is super classy & “live” music changes the vibe. But it costs more and can be more limited in the type of music.

Limited budget, a lot of 20-something party guests & want original music from the decades? DJ. Bigger budget, formal classy wedding, older crowd? Band.

We’re going DJ even though my family were adamant about a band and even offered to pay for it. We felt a DJ would provide a lot more diverse selection that would be crowd pleasing to all ages.

I would love to have a band since we’re both fans of live music, but a DJ is more affordable.

DJ- more selections of music with less space and equipment needed.
