Wedding dresses

Has anyone ever brought something or know someone who brought a wedding dress from DHgate.online or Amazon. I seen that they have really nice dresses. But are they worth it. Should I just go to a regular bridal venue like David's bridal???

I wouldn't take risks with the dress. Go to a bridal shop with a budget and stick to budget.

Do you know any good websites...that's legit though. My budget is $500. The David's bridal where I live the selection isn't all that great, and really had a bad experience, so a friend told me about the two websites. Otherwise I might have to travel to my neighboring state to find the perfect dress.

Try bridal consignment shops. If you have time don't rush it especially on a budget. If you're willing to travel to another state to go shopping maybe add that to what you would spend on your dress in town. Good luck!

If your budget is low you could try some place online like Azazie - they are definitely legit but just started doing bridal gowns.

Also a bridal consignment shop or a certified site like pre-ownedweddingdresses.com or stillwhite.com

Look for reviews, order a bit larger and spend the money on a good seamstress. I’m thinking about doing this. It’s hit or miss, Ive seen it work out great for some and not for others. I’m thinkinh of doing this tho, I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg.

It is! I’m looking for a red dress, my mom hates the idea. It’s my second wedding and I was to look vavoom. My mom also hates my online shopping idea but honestly I’d rather spend an extra $500 or more on alcohol or something fun.

I got scammed by a 3rd party vendor on Amazon. Since they did send me a dress, Amazon would do nothing even though it was not as described. Their strongest protections only apply to items fulfilled through Amazon, NOT 3rd party sellers.

    Don't risk it.

I have never brought from DHGATE. I actually got mine from David’s Bridal for $400. But I have purchased formal wear from that website a few time for my daughter for there formal events. (Homecoming, Ring Dance, Prom) and have been very satisfied. I would suggest before ordering to be professionally measured or order a size up to allow for alterations. Most of those dresses come from China and there sizes run a little small. They are pretty reliable and there delivery times are rather accurate.

I wanted a red dress too. That's how I got ripped off. Alfred Angelo was the only bridal dressmaker doing solid red dresses and now they are out of business.

Honestly, your best bet is going custom made from a seamstress if you want a red wedding dress. Don't order from any of the Chinese dressmakers unless you have time to risk getting crap. I had no time to get a custom dress and I ended up with ivory at David's Bridal since my wedding was so close.

I ordered my dress off of Amazon! I love it! I did custom size and sent them my measurements. It fit perfect. It was the exact size I sent because it fit but it was snug. I’ve lost a few pounds since I got my wedding dress and it still looks amazing!!

I got my first dress from DB for $699, they had the dress online as a sample for $299. If you find a dress you like at DB check online In their sample sale section you can probably find it!

Oh goodness, I seriously was asking myself the same question about 5 months ago! My budget is $450 so here are the places I looked and what I experienced:

Online Only Bridal Shops: Like Azazie, Tulle & Chantilly, Revelry, & For Her And For Him. These shops are affordable and legit, but I wasn't able to find anything in my style. The bride selections are limited, bridesmaid dresses are more of their focus and I honestly think they have more options than places like David's Bridal. I'll probably get my bridesmaid dresses from one of these places.

Consignment Shops : Affordable designer dresses, but completely random selections. My biggest issue was that all of the dresses I liked were not even close to my size, so alterations would of cost more than the actual dress!

David's Bridal: Only "Bridal Salon" with options that were within my budget, but again, they weren't my style. However, it was a fantastic option for figuring out the details of the style I wanted, so I tried on dresses I knew I couldn't afford. There were a lot of things I thought I wanted, like off the shoulder sleeves (too uncomfortable) and a dropped waistline (looked silly because I'm so short).

Etsy: If you haven't heard of it, the best way I describe is that it's like Ebay for artists. (more regulated than Ebay though so you don't have to worry about scams). Several shops to choose from. Most of which offer samples. This is where I found the shop Vicky Mermaid Bridal; amazing reviews, and great quality fabric, no extra charge for custom measurements...This is were I found my wedding dress! Literally just ordered it last night...

Sorry for writing you a novel! I just thought my experience may be helpful since we're in the same boat! One last thing, I avoided DHgate because it reminded me too much of the scam sites that sell counterfeit dresses. I think Amazon is a great option though, you just can't order fabric samples but they do have a great return policy.

    Best of luck! Smiley heart
