I went to a sample sale at a local bridal shop called The White Room, and when I found my Maggie Sottero Dress, it had a $1800 tag, I paid $300 for it. It's all about giving yourself options and being open to things you normally wouldn't try! I am in love with my dress and so glad I found it because my budget started at $500.
Sample sales and Davids Bridal will probably be your best options! It's definitely doable, as PP have proven! You could also check out non-traditional stores, like a department store, for a white/ivory evening gown. So many of them look like wedding gowns but they are 1/4 or less of the price of a brand wedding gown would be.
My dress was $650-$700, not counting veil and adding the bustle (which is one the picture was taken) but I just saw online it's been marked down to under $600. It can be done, as long as you keep your eyes open for sales
Mine was a Davids Bridal online flash sale deal - right at $400. I snagged a slip and corset also on sale, plus shoes from TJ Maxx ... other than a headpiece and jewelry, I've spent $530-ish so far.
My dress was 200. I loved it that's all that matters. You can find a beautiful dress for under your budget if you look in the right places! Best wishes
This thread is so inspiring! I found my original dress at David's Bridal for $450, it was a simple but pretty ivory tulle ballgown. Unfortunately it was taken in too much at alterations so that it was unwearable, but the managers worked with me and got me my money back, thank God! At that point, I only had a month to find a new dress, which is too little time for most shops.
I found two beautiful dresses on Ebay instead - the first dress is a lovely 16 year old dress with loads of beautiful details for $70. I prefer vintage styles, anyway, so this was more fun for me.
The second is a beautiful fitted former David's Bridal dress for $55.
I plan to wear both dresses at my wedding, the more elaborate dress for the ceremony, and the more fitted dress for the reception. So definitely don't rule out Ebay or used wedding gowns after trying on the expensive gowns as inspiration - these dresses were both in near-perfect, wearable condition - all they needed was ironing!
