Wedding Dress

Hello! We've been engaged for 4 months, is it too early to start looking at wedding dresses? And for my plus size brides what are some of your favorite styles?

It depends on when you're getting married, not when you got engaged. I would start looking around a year out.

Not too early to start looking! As for plus size gals, I found that ballgowns and a-line worked best because it accents your waist. My dress is a drop waist that makes me look tiny even though I am anything but! I would start with researching what styles you like. Also note that bridal sizes are weird, so don't pay attention to the number on your tag.

Thank you! As for the ball gowns, I love the look of them and tried a few on but I don't think they are my style. I'm shorter and I feel like a ball, will for sure try an a-line. Size doesn't matter as long as you feel beautiful!

Girl exactly. As long as the dress makes you feel gorgeous! Here's a pic of my ballgown - I'm not tall by any means, but it's not cutting me off too badly.

I would wait until a year before. My wedding isn't until October 2021 and I'm waiting until next September to start looking.

My wedding is June 19th 2021, I've already had time to find and purchase 2 dresses xD (an exchange, so not too bad). Start your search whenever you feel like you're ready. I liked looking early, it took the pressure off of trying to find something I would be able to get in time. It does open up more of a chance of dress regret, but if you look far out, you have time to do something about it.

I got engaged in February 2019 bought my dress in April and our wedding is June 2020. I have no regrets buying it early, one less thing to think about.

I am a plus size bride also and I found that every dress is different t even style wise so it never hurts to try on a variety if you like it try it on it may be exactly what your looking for even if you didnt think it would be. I was always scared of the mermaid or fit and flare and found with rooshing (dont think I spelled that right ) accents it was actually very beautiful! !

I bought my dress after being engaged for 3-4 weeks. I don’t think getting it early is really a problem as long as you know you’re not the kind of person to change your mind on that kind of thing. I know my style and my style hasn’t changed since I was 18. The only thing I would suggest, is wait to alter it. I altered mine before I even set a date and now my wedding is in 146 days and my dress is too small because it’s been a close to two years and 30 pounds since I altered it. If you find your dress and you absolutely know with ever fiber of your being that it will still be your dress in 5 years. Get it! But if you aren’t sure if you’ll find something better later, then wait!

My wedding is April 2021. One random day last week my mom, sister and myself went to David's just to look and ended up buying my dress and veil.
If you end up buying early make sure you have a garment bag to store it in - not plastic.

I just started looking a little less than a year out but honestly I don’t think there’s a bad time to start, even if it’s just to get an idea of what you like on you. I picked my dress, and it was completely different than what I imagined myself wearing. I also found THE DRESS my first time shopping so that was stressful but I love it

I looked (and purchased!) 15 months out. I’m October 2020. I’m plus size too and I love ball gown but you can rock anything! Size does NOT matter. It’s about what makes you feel beautiful.

It’s more of a concern to go dress shopping too late, than too early.

I say no lol. My wedding is a year out but as soon as my guy and I decided to officially tie the knot I went shopping. Many sites say shop close to a year in adv...8-10 mos. I think in case of delivery and alterations. Mine was on clearance and came in sooner than expected but I do not regret it. Time to lose weight and make sure it fits perfectly. Smiley smile
