Wedding dress

Janae, on February 4, 2020 at 3:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
I have tried so many dresses, like one, then later find something I don't like about it. I feel liked I've had dress overload. At this point I'll feel like I'll never find the one. Did you have to change anything about your dress to make it perfect? Did you absolutely know which one was the dress? P.s. I am the absolute worst at making a decision, don't help the process.

Yes this happened to me. I had an idea of what I wanted in my head and ended up getting the exact opposite! The key is just to be in the moment and stop constructing the “perfect dress” in your head while trying on dresses. I tried one on, truly felt like a princess (I’m not girly at all) and was like okay this one is awesome. That was how I made the decision, I just loved it as a dress and didn’t try to put that “perfect wedding dress” ideal onto it. I 100% went it to it saying “it has to be a mermaid and has to have straps” and here I am 😂😂Wedding dress 1

    Hi Mayerly,
Congratulations, I know how your feeling, many of us brides to be go through what you are dealing with now, I tried on over 30 dresses before I found my dream dress, and this was after looking online at all the different styles and deciding that I wanted either a mermaid style or a fit and flare! I picked a Stella York, style 6979, if you care to see it, do you have an idea about which style you think would look best on you? I would advise you to avoid bringing to many people to your fittings, you get to many opinions that can cloud your judgement!
    Good luck girl!

I tried on a ton of dresses. I ended up going with one, but when it came in the shape was way different, so we pinned everything and they're recutting the lace to make the shape I love. Here's my journey in photographs:

    This is the sample

The shape was way more mermaid, and the lace was short

    And here it is pinned:

So yeah. Journeys happen. Don't settle!

That's is a big difference looks great! There's a dress I like but I'd want to add and take in certain parts. So I thought if I have to do so many alterations is it really the dress? But I guess sometimes that is the case

Totally. Some things to remember are:

    1) When it's ordered in your size, it'll look way different. 2) Always ask the seamstress what alterations are and aren't possible. Also, how much they would cost. Have them write a contract to sign. 3) A dress with lots of alterations may or may not be THE dress. There could be one that already exists in the world in the shape you want. They'll all need alterations though.
And to finish (this lengthy opinion post), if you want to make a TON of changes to the design of the sample, I'd move on. A couple of tweaks though is normal. Also, I had them repin it because the finished product was not well represented by their sample. They agreed with me so they're making it like the sample shape on their dime.
    Good luck!
