Wedding Dress

Aynmie, on August 29, 2021 at 11:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17
Hi Ladies,

So, I went to my 2nd wedding dress appointment yesterday and did not expect to get all the “feels” towards one of the dresses. I had goosebumps, was literally shaking and it made me feel that I was really getting married. I went home and hugged my fiancé and I wanted to marry him tomorrow! LoL
My problem is I’m scared to commit to the dress because my wedding is not till September 2022 and I’m scared that I might have dress regrets and find another one along the way. I still have goosebumps looking at photos and typing this message. But my anxiety is killing me! HELP!!

OK, first of all, that dress is STUNNING on you!! I don’t think many brides have that visceral a reaction to a dress- this is obviously THE ONE! Also, ordering a dress a year in advance is pretty standard. I don’t think I would wait much longer than that with the ongoing pandemic. It has really slowed down process and delivery times for wedding gowns. Your dress is just like your spouse… When you find one you absolutely love, you don’t keep looking for another one! If you feel in your gut this is your dress, commit to it and STOP LOOKING AT OTHER DRESSES immediately. If you have doubts, you can always schedule another trip to a different boutique ASAP to see if anything else compares to this one before committing. But again, don’t wait too long!

This dress is hands down AMAZING! I doubt if you’ll get that feeling or reaction towards another dress. Just trust you’ve found your dress just like you’ve found your fiancé and stop looking at others.

It’s a gorgeous dress! Just remember dresses take MONTHS to come in if you aren’t purchasing off the rack. And then there are alterations. Once you commit though stop looking online and don’t go dress shopping. I’m going dress shopping for the second time on Friday. I’m planning on saying yes for my October 2022 wedding. So it’s not to early! I cried when i saw myself in a certain dress, but I want my MOH to see it in person before I say yes. She lives out of state so I’ll see her Friday! She saw it on facetime but it’s not the same.

My mom lives in the Philippines and that was another factor as to why I didn’t commit that day too.. I called my mom back home and showed her the dress on messenger and luckily she loves it too.. after my work week I plan to take my MIL for her to see the dress in person and more than likely say yes! My anxiety is always a struggle for me.

That dress is amazing on you. If you feel that is the dress get it and stop looking!!!! On my first appointment I tried on 4 dresses and stopped after the 4th because every dress I tried on I compared to the first on. I purchased the dress and came home and deleted every inspiration picture I had of dresses off my phone and stopped getting on pinterest. I am glad I purchased my dress when I did because even with buying it in July they said the earliest it could come in would be December 20th and then Im sure it will need alterations from there. My wedding isn't until September 2022 so I feel like I have enough time even if it comes in late.

That dress is gorgeous on you and I haven’t seen it before! A dress can definitely take 7-9 months or longer to come in and I heard factories in Asia are closing again. To get it out of your system, why not go to 1-2 shops in September. You probably already know this is The One but may need 💯 confidence to buy. Then order it and stop looking/second guessing.

What a gorgeous dress, and what a strong reaction! We live in wild times and I think you should go ahead and buy it. I bought my dress in June 2020 for my September 2021 wedding which has now been postponed until Feb 22. Here are my thoughts about dress regret.

You know yourself and your personality. Do you tend to buy impulsively then regret things, or are you a decisive, determined person? I am fairly decisive, so I knew I was unlikely to change my mind, but my sister always second (and third and fourth!) guesses things, so she ended up exchanging her dress, even though she didn't buy it that far out from her day.

Are you planning on losing or gaining a substantial amount of weight? This could make you change your mind on the silhouette or be annoying with alterations costing a lot more than you anticipate.

Since I first shopped, I've lost about 6-8kg (12-14 pounds) but I bought my dress to fit the size I was, just in case I didn't lose any weight (I was afraid I'd end up not being able to fit my own dress!)

If my wedding was happening in 2 weeks like it was supposed to be, that would be fine, but with the extra months until our new date, I'm not sure how much more weight I'll lose, and how much before my dress just can't be altered any smaller. I also don't know how much it's going to cost me yet. If I'd been buying/looking now, I would have bought a size down.

Also, I LOVE my dress and doubt I'd change my mind since I've wanted a ballgown forever, but my body is a slightly different shape now, and I might have discovered that I preferred an alternative silhouette if I shopped now.

The other thing is the practicality of storing it and whether you live with your fiance or have someone you can trust to leave the dress with. My dress came in earlier than anticipated and had to hang on the back door of our spare room in a garment bag for over 9 months before I could take it to the alterations person. My fiance isn't the type to look, but yours might be!

Finally, I would say that you never really know what will pop up between now and your wedding. I don't think I'd regret a thing about my dress except our postponement now mean that our wedding moves from spring to summer, and the sleeves I added due to it getting quite cold here in spring are going to potentially be way too hot. I couldn't have planned for that. Things happen. Be conscious things can change but go with your gut and get what you love!

That dress looks great! I think just by what you described, it is the “one”! Once you order it will take a few months to come in, mine took about 6 months. I don’t think it’s too early to find the one. I too am worried about having regret but I think once I actually step into my dress that feeling will come back.

That dress is gorgeous!! Sounds like it’s the one if you felt that way. If you’re wedding is a year out, you’re actually in pretty good timing to order, dresses often take 6+ months to come in, and that’s without the added Covid delays some places are dealing with. You should be ordering within the next 3 months or so. If you love it go for it! ❤️

Same!!!!! Literally right after I found “the one” and paid for it… I couldn’t help but have anxiety like what if it’s not the one?! I look at others and I am freaking out! Yours is gorgeous and while I am positive you’d look amazing in many other dresses the goosebumps don’t lie!

You're physical and emotional response towards this dress means it's "the one." Not every bride has this reaction when they find the right dress, but the lucky one's do. The way this dress makes you feel definitely says something about your connection to it. I feel you will always come back to this dress if you DON'T get it. You make this dress GORGEOUS, like it was truly made for you!

You look AMAZING! That's the "moment" that some of us talk about - when we just KNEW that was our dress. I felt the exact same way when I tried mine on and I bought it September 5, 2020 for my October 17, 2021 wedding. You can go look elsewhere to help bring your mind at ease but if that's the ONE for you, you won't be able to stop thinking about it lol.

I was having dress regret as well, I love it now. I think you have to go dress shopping yourself a couple times before bringing other peoples opinion into the mix. After getting my dress I started seeing other dresses. Honestly, looking back I should have waiting. I ordered mine a year before my wedding.
