So my fiancé and I just booked our venue for October 3, 2021. How soon should I go dress shopping?

Mine is September 2021 and I’m going around Thanksgiving this year. I worked at a David’s Bridal in college and we always recommended 6-8 months for shipping but it could come sooner. Also have to account for the possibility you won’t find the dress at your first shop!

I would say no more than a year out. Gives time for any alterations you may want/need, production time (if needed) and shipping.

8-12 months out. The closer to your wedding date, the less likely you will change to more than 1 size larger or smaller, and need extensive, and expensive, alterations.

Start exploring options whenever you want! Shop around online to see what you like, however, I wouldn't suggest buying online. Take some photos of your favorite dresses with you for your appointment. I would go in to try on maybe November or December.

Most people are saying less than a year....my wedding is November 2021 and I have my dress in the closet right now and I’m VERY thankful because dresses are really back ordered right now with the virus and shops are closed. So I would say start looking once the shops open up again. I’ve read to start no later than 9 months in case you don’t find what you love/you need shipping/you need alterations. My dress is a corset so it’s very adjustable anyways, so I’m not too worried about not fitting in it next year.

That’s really up to you! It doesn’t hurt to start looking to get ideas for the styles and silhouettes you like. Take some time to do some homework so you have some clear ideas as to what you like and don’t like going into your appointments.

I would start looking as soon as you can and definitely have it ordered by Christmas. Shipping times are being delayed due to the coronavirus.

I think it’s ok to start shopping 18 months before the big day. Some dresses take 6-9 months to arrive, but with Covid around the next year I think ordering 12-15 months out is fine.
