Wedding dress

Is anyone else stressing about their wedding dress? Or is it just me? When I first tried on my dress I loved it and I say yes right away but now I keep second-guessing myself thinking I should've kept looking 😩

I'm just stressing that I'll be able to alter it enough if I keep losing weight lol. I started last week and lost almost 5lbs, and I'm on track to keep losing...so I'm worried the dresses will be falling off and the seamstress can't take it in much more!!

I also was second guessing myself after I came home. I purchased two dresses, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. I love them both and they're exactly what I was looking for, but I kept thinking 'what if'. So I just kept telling myself to stop comparing them to other dresses and to not look at anything else hahahaha.

The problem with wedding dresses is that everyone expects to find the "perfect" dress, but in reality there are tons of dresses that are the "perfect" dress for each person. I have the same issue some days where I think that maybe I should have kept looking longer, and my dress won't even arrive until June-ish.. but you just have to remind yourself that you picked it because you loved it Smiley laugh

yes you're definitely not alone! Dress regret is a common topic on WW from what I've seen. Just stay confident in your choice and know that you'll look stunning on your wedding day!!

I am stressing in a weird way...

There are a ton of really beautiful dresses that are exactly what I'm looking for right now. Minimalist (minimal or no embellishment), clean lines, mermaid or sheath, with V-necklines. I read an article that indicated these are currently "in fashion".

I worry that by the time it comes time to get my dress for our vow renewal, these won't be on trend anymore and it will be really hard to find.

I freaked out so much after I bought my dress I returned mine and bought a different one that I had tried on and couldn't get off my mind after purchasing the other one. I was sooo stressed about it, and now I'm 😊

Currently going through this. I’ve decided to go look one more time, at the same shop so can exchange or etc. I’m pretty sure my dress is the one, I just have a hard time seeing it in my mind after alterations.

Felt the same way! Go back and try it on just to be sure. I had major dress regret after I got my dress because usually I’m indecisive and it was such an easy choice! When I put it on again, I immediately fell in love again!

Girl, me too. I ordered back in Jan and ordered a size up because I was between sizes. Now I am a full 3 sizes smaller than I was (18lbs down; 2.5 inches smaller in the waist and 3 inches smaller in the hips before shapewear). My seamstress is going to have to do magic and of course my dress is running late. The dress is scheduled to arrive on May 18 and the wedding is June 12. So much for the $300 extra I paid to rush the order. Grrrrrrr

I bought my dress in January and it won't be ready until July. I keep seconding guessing if it's enough. I went with a pretty simple silhouette so I keep wondering if I should have gone for something more glam. It is what it is now. I won't be buying another dress. Hopefully in July when I try it on again I love it!

I think this is normal. My sister had a full bridal moment, she cried, we cried, she bought the dress, but then almost immediately she started questioning whether she'd made the right choice. She ended up exchanging it for a different dress and seemed much happier with it.

I guess it really depends on your personality - I’m not really worried about the style of the dress, but I am a little bit worried like some of you that it won’t be able to be taken in enough – when I bought the dress, I only just fit into the sample, so I ordered up, firstly so I didn’t have to worry if I didn’t lose weight, and secondly so that I would have more space for alterations. But since I bought it I’ve lost enough to probably have fit into the original sample, so the dress is going to need to be taken down at least a full size and I just hope it doesn’t look far too big on me on the day.

My auntie in law gave me some great advice – once you’ve bought the dress, don’t look at it, don’t try it on again until alterations and then the day itself. I will admit that I’ve totally ignored that and once or twice I’ve snuck into our spare bedroom when my fiancé is out and tried it on, just to have one more look, but it doesn’t really help because the alterations haven’t been done yet so it’s very hard to tell what it would look like on the day.

I think honestly it’s a case of trusting in your alterations person, and in your original choice. I very luckily have a video of the very moment I fell in love with my dress, and seeing the look on my face reassures me I made the right choice.

I’m feeling a similar way- I bought my dress in 2019 for a June 2020 wedding. Well, 3 corona postponements later and one bad seamstress in the beginning who hack jobbed my dress has made me think about going to buy another dress. I know that’s completely ridiculous but another seamstress had to fix all the areas the first woman cut, and to let it out A few inches she had to make corsets up the side of my body- yeah, not a great vision. I’m stressed about it but with 3 postponements, and a 20K wedding, at this point, I also kind of just don’t care anymore!! Good luck with your dress journey!

Ahh!! Good luck and congrats on your weight loss! I got lucky and was able to take both of my dresses home that day, so I don't have the stress of waiting for my dress to come in!

    Hi there,

I had MAJOR wedding dress regret.... I went to David’s bridal in a Saturday picked out a dress and on the ride home immediately felt regret... I tried sleeping it over and I legit toss and turned all night.... I’m such a laid back person that I couldn’t believe the regret was getting to me to the point of seriously disturbing my sleep. Needless to say I made the wrong choice and went back to David’s Bridal that Monday and chose another dress that im absolutely in love with no matter how many times I try it on. Is it possible to exchange? Good luck to you!

Hi!!! Same thing happened to me! I said yes to one dress as our venue had initially been a beach wedding!!! So I recently — last week—- bought my actual dress which was 5 times as much but much more of what I love and totally me!!! It happens. Just be careful it’s not buyers remorse. If there is something you absolutely don’t like about the dress or you just won’t be fully comfortable in, I say change it
