Depending on where you go for your dress, it can take up to 6 months plus to order. I would start looking now, that way you know you have some time to order it! I ordered mine in October and I’m getting married July 17, 2021 Smiley smile

You can start researching and have some ideas of what you want now, you should try to order your dress around a year out just to be safe! I just bought mine and my wedding is April 2021

I would wait about 8 months out. I bought too early and now I have dress regret and plan to try on more to possibly exchange lol.

I think it depends on the type of dress you are thinking about, and also if you know that you will be changing your body composition before the wedding.

Year+: designer dresses or ones that have to be made from scratch with multiple fittings over a year+. Also if you find your dream dress and feel like you are happy and comfortable at the size you are, and it's a lace up back - maybe it would be find to purchase because it can fluctuate in or out slightly.
Closer to time: ready-made dresses that require minimal adjustment, or if you know you want to gain or lose more than 10 lb. Then 10-8 months to start shopping and get it might be better, keeping in mind size up or down potential.

I'm getting married May 22, 2021, I am going with my mom and daughters May 23, 2020 to look at dresses. I am trying to also lose weight before hand. And scared to find a dress I love and then lose to much weight cause my goal is 88lbs before next year. But I dont wanna stress to find a dress either if i wait, so I'm kinda stuck in a hard spot.

I'm getting married August 2021, going to start sampling around August 2020, but probably purchase in February.

Unless you order from David’s bridal, a dress can take 6-8 months to arrive and you want to start alterations 2 months before your wedding. Start shopping now. 😊

You can start looking now if you want just to get an ideal of what you might want to narrow down what you want or what designers you like then check for trunk shows for that designer or wait til bridal stores have their end of the year Sale

I’d start now. You don’t know how long she’ll take to the find one and it can take up to 8 months for the dress to arrive and then you have to factor in alterations, possible mistakes with the order etc. You should plan, book and buy as many things as far in advance as you can. Anything can happen financially and you’ll be comforted in knowing that your wedding details are covered.
