I know I have a while until I get married but is really crazy if I book an appointment 7 months out! I've picked 4 dresses I'm really in love with! I think I'm just so excited!

Hey there! 7 months out is definitely not crazy! It can actually be too late depending on the shop! I would book an appointment NOW.

Sorry, I was confused. I would go shopping about a year from your wedding date. Your style, wedding styles, body shape, etc could all change if you buy too early.

I would definitely wait. I know it’s difficult! But, with your wedding over a year away your dream dress could change as could your budget, body type, etc. or! Even better, the dress could go on sale.

I wouldn't buy until you hit a year out. But if you're excited you can try stuff on and see if you actually like it. There's nothing more awkward than trying a dress you love on and hating it. So making sure you like the shape and style is fine to me.

My first dress appt was back in April, 17 months before our date. I mostly wanted to see what different styles looked like and felt like on. I learned a lot about what I like and don’t. I’m still weary to buy a dress since we’re still more than a year out, but I do have another appt in about a month because the local boutique has a sale and their dresses (normally starting at $2500) will all be under $700! I was so excited to go dress shopping, so I totally get it, but I didn’t end up loving some of the dresses I thought I would so I don’t think it hurts to get an idea of what the dress you love looks and feels like on.

My sister had been engaged for 3+ years, and she bought the dress very early in the engagement. If you usually change your mind I’m dresses you like, I would wait. But if you normally can buy a dress and still end up wearing it I would go for it. Maybe you can pick out a dress but not order it yet in case your size changes, or you can just keep looking for a while! Nothing wrong with either choice just be careful!!

I’m not getting married until 2020 and I got my dress and the only reason why besides the fact that I loved it was that the consultant told me if the style is discontinued because I put a deposit down they would still have to make my dress and the style I got is very similar to what you love!

Know yourself first that would be the best way to decide this... You are still a ways away so keep in mind styles change and prices change but also note if you buy earlier thats that much more you will be saving later as it gets closer to the wedding and other things start getting due. Me personally I purchased my dress a year prior to my date. I tried my first set of dresses on 13 months out and I hated them all (I also didn't go to the appt looking for a dress it was supposed to be bridesmaid shopping and they just happened to have a bridal appointment opening). When i actually bought my dress I made the appt so it was planned to go. I tried maybe 5 dresses on and I fell in love with the second to last one. I HATE shopping so I knew ordering a year ahead of time I wasn't going to change my mind because I wasn't going to step foot into another bridal salon so i wouldn't have temptation. If you think over that course of time you will go try other things on I really wouldn't bother cause you could end up wasting a lot of money... Just my personal thoughts.

I bought my dress 15 months out. So you don't have to wait until the year mark but I wouldn't go anytime before 15-18 months. As PP have said budget, style, wants can change so you never know what will be available when the time comes for you to go shopping. However, don't wait too long because my dress took 12 months to come in so I'm glad I went when I did!
