Wedding Dress!

on September 9, 2019 at 8:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
My wedding is just under a year away (9/3/20), and I’m starting to freak out because I haven’t even began looking for my dress yet. HELP!

Where did everyone purchase their wedding dress and how much did you spend? I live in Northern New Jersey, I’d love some recommendations on bridal shops in my area!

Thanks!

How north are you? I went to L'Fey in Chatham and they had nice dresses but they were pricey and alterations were expensive. I got my dress at Seng Couture in Fanwood. They had a huge selection and alterations are included if you spend over 1000.

You definitely have plenty of time - I went dress shopping about 10 months in advance, and my dress was delivered in less than 3 months. I only did one day of dress shopping at two different stores before I found my dress. I think going in with a vague idea of how I wanted the dress to fit (fitted to the waist/hips and then more flow-y without being poofy) and a few specific things I liked and/or wanted to avoid (I liked lace detailing, and didn't really want a strapless dress) helped me a lot.

I've said this on a lot of posts before, but given your timeline, I'd really consider seeing if boutiques near you have any kind of black Friday sales. The place I got my dress from does a White Friday sale every year and you can get some really good deals then. How much you spend definitely depends on you, but I'd recommend going in with a budget so you don't fall in love with a $5,000 dress you can't afford.

The ladies above are right, you definitely have lots of time! I purchased my dress at David's Bridal (not sure if they have those in your area) at the end of August and it will be here within a month from then! Smiley smile

Seng couture fanwood, nj. Basic alterations are free with dress purchase of $1000 or better. Thats a huge savings for some.

No need to stress. Plenty of time! I'm a month before you. I'm getting my dress custom made with Anomalie because I literally couldn't find any other dress anywhere that I loved. I found it on some sketchy website. Couldn't find the designer or legit place to purchase it. I'm paying $1,250 not including alterations and I should be receiving it by January. I'm excited and nervous at the same time!
