Wedding dress without bustier?

Tasha, on March 8, 2021 at 12:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hi! Does anyone know how to make a wedding dress fit better without a bustier?

My dress fits well on my stomach and hips. But not at the top/breast area. The cups fit me perfect but the top part still doesn’t fit me well. If I jump, it slides down. And the stomach area is see-through so I don’t want a bustier but my seamstress is saying that’s the only option to have the dress fit better. Is there any other options?
Thanks!

Follow the seamstress's advice. She can make it fit properly without changing the look.

Do you have a picture of your dress? That might help if someone has dealt with a similar situation on a similar dress.

I would get a second opinion, my seamstress made the bust fit like a glove for me without a bustier so I know it can be done! My bodice also has some sheer/see through parts

Hi Tasha! I think a picture of your dress would help us envision it better!!

Is the rest of the bodice too loose? Or is it lacking the structural support & boning to keep the dress up?? Would adding straps help?

You can definitely take your dress to another alterations place for a 2nd opinion as well!

    Wedding dress without bustier? 1
Here’s a pic of my dress! It’s see through in the middle, sides, and back but does have boning and a built in bra already in the bodice. All the seamstress did so far was tighten the sides about a few inches per side but since then, the bust area doesn’t fit me well. She is saying the only way to fix this is a bustier underneath but I don’t want to have a bustier Smiley sad

Thanks!! Now I can definitely see that this is a tough one!

I wonder if there's any way to reinforce the existing boning? Or would wearing a bra or sticky tape underneath the dress help at all??

It's a beautiful dress, but it doesn't look the most supportive!
