Wedding Dress Trunk Shows

Caitlyn, on January 15, 2019 at 9:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Has anyone been to a wedding dress trunk show? How does it differ from going to a bridal salon on a regular day? Thanks!

I went to a trunk show on the last day of it when I purchased my dress. I only went dress shopping one time so I unfortunately do not have another experience to compare it to.
To me, the only special thing going on was the shop had an area designated for the dresses from the designer and that's it.
My consultant said I should have come the day before, which I was going to but had schedule conflicts, because the designer was there and they had giveaways.
I was a little disappointed that I didn't have a chance to see/meet the designer but I still left with a swag bag of goodies and 10% discount on my dress!

Hey Caitlyn!! The difference between a trunk show and shopping on a regular day is that during a trunk show you're able to see more and get discounts! During a designer trunk show, the bridal shop will have a preview of a designers new collection before it hits stores. You can try on styles that may not be available yet and there is typically a discount associated if you purchase during the time of the trunk show or for some shops it lasts a week or so. It's a great time to shop and save money!! On a regular day, you won't get that kind of discount unless the shop is having a special promotion.

Are you planning on attending a trunk show?

I'd definitely go during a trunk show! Jayla explained it perfectly, but if you do find your dress it's worth it to get the discount rather than paying full price!

I went during a trunk show, and I didn't even realize it until I showed up. The one I went to was a designer preview & the dress I ended up buying was apart of it, so I technically got the dress before it was out for sale which I thought was pretty cool! There was also a chance those dresses wouldn't make the cut, so I could have had a one of a kind designer dress. But the pros of a trunk show are that there is typically a sale (mine was 20% off I think) and you get to see dresses you wouldn't see at that store normally. The only con I can think of is you essentially have to decide that day, or that weekend, because the dresses may not be there any more.

I live near Austin Tx, theres one 1-2 hours away from me in a few weeks. I got engaged barely a month ago (December 5th, but my mom and I agreed that we wouldn't start planning until after the holidays cause it's so hectic). I went to a bridal expo last weekend and ever one is all "you gotta hurry up, what are you waiting for". I know alterations take time and all, but we haven't even booked a venue yet! We've toured many and have narrowed it down to 2, just comparing pros and cons.

I bought my Rue De Seine dress at at trunk show at Lovely Bride. They were showing a brand new season of gowns, offering a discount, and a gift with purchase. It was worth it for me, it can be fun, but it can also add some pressure to buy so just be sure you’re in the right frame of mind Smiley smile

Congratulations!! I will say that you would want to get on it sooner rather than later but I definitely understand wanting to wait especially since you haven't booked your venue yet! I've worked with bridal gowns in the past and as long as you try to get your dress 5-6 months before the wedding then you should be fine!!

It's good that you have your options narrowed down. You're making big decisions so take your time and don't rush it!!!

How much did you save on your RDS? There’s one a couple hours away and I’m thinking about going.
