Wedding dress transport

Rachel, on October 9, 2019 at 9:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
I'll be able to pick up my wedding dress from my seamstress Friday. I can pick it up during my lunch break or after I get off work that evening. If I get it on my lunch break, will it be okay to leave my dress in my car for a few hours? Friday will be a cool day, so it won't be a hot Louisiana day. It'll be in my car for around 6 hours. Am I playing dress roulette doing that or will it be okay? The dress will be in a plastic dress bag.

If they’re steaming it for you, my only concern is that it ma wrinkle. But other than that I don’t think it would be an issue.

I had to do that when i picked up my dress. I just gently laid it as flat as I could in my trunk so it was protected from direct sun and prying eyes. Lol i worried about it all day but it was fine. Sill as gorgeous as ever when i got home.

Get a breathable cloth garnet bag instead of plastic for sure! That’ll help

It will be fine for a few hours. My only concern would be keeping it somewhere that people can't see it.

Could I unzip the bag so the dress can breathe? Like unzip it so it's not closed but leave the flaps laying on the dress?

Could you take the dress into work with you?

I wouldn’t worry about this at all...I’m not even really sure what the specific concern would be! My dress came on a 5 hour road trip with us to get to where the wedding was ...I may have even packed it in the car the night before, it never even occurred to me to worry about it in there. I just laid it as flat as I could and made sure nothing else was on top of it, and it was totally fine. I hung it up ASAP on arrival so it would have a couple days to any wrinkles out , though I don’t think it really had any.

Oh unless there’s any security concern with the parking lot!

I drive an SUV with tinted windows. Between the size and the tinting it's hard to see into the back of my vehicle. Especially if the dress was laying flat in the back.

I'm unable to do that. I work in an office complex and there's no place to store it. Plus, I have to walk a block to my car and I don't want to be carrying my dress down the street.

With an SUV could you put the seats down to make sure its really flat? It would make me nervous to leave my dress in the car- but I don't work in the safest area. As long as your confident that it would be okay that way I don't see why it would be an issue.

Yes, I plan on putting the seats down so it's completely flat.
