Wedding dress train or Not?

Lisa, on March 22, 2013 at 10:39 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Hello Bee's -- I need help deciding whether or not I should cut off my train? Not too sure how I feel about the bustle?

It seems like more modern dresses don't have trains and I thought I preferred this look....I think I'm confusing myself, there are so many decisions!

Help!!! I need to decide by today.

I personally like trains on wedding gowns, however, I understand your hesitation because of the way the bustle sits. Have you considered changing the bustle from under to over? It would be hooked up on one of the buttons and then flare out like a waterfall of sorts.

I love the train. The buttons going down the back of your dress is beautiful. I think the bustle is a nice option so that you can put it up after the ceremony. I would leave it but that's just me! =) Good luck!!

Personally, I love the train and I think it adds a bit of drama as you walk down the aisle. I think you should keep it. I actually really like that bustle, but there are tons of different types of bustles you could try. I would look around online for types of bustles and test them out with your seamstress.

You can find a way to make your definitley find a way to make your bustle less noticeable and seem like it has no train but I think its beautiful as is.

LOL I agree with Lucky who are bees? lol

But to me one of the most important aspect of my dress was the train I WANTED a dress with a train...

I think the dress you have is very nice with the train but it's whatever you want for your wedding.

I personally made a dress with a train a deal-breaker - it HAD to have one. Yours is beautiful with it, but if you don't like it that's up to you. It's your dress & your day, you should be as happy with it as possible.

Maybe change the style of bustle if that's what you dislike about the train.

I'm cutting off my train but adding drama by wearing a longer veil for the ceremony. I basically dislike any bustle-ing.

I like it, I think either would be fine. Really its a personal prefrence, I think it looks nice for when you're standing at the front of the church, but it's you lugging around extra weight all night while dancing etc.

I don't know what you mean about modern dresses not having trains.

I love the train on your dress and wouldn't cut it off. If you don't love that bustle, there are tons more options. There was a long post earlier this week all about bustles and lots of us found plenty of unique options by googling.

My dress doesn't have a train, but I'm a second time bride and I'll be 36 when I get married. I just don't want the fuss.

Don't cut the train because you don't like THAT bustle. Explore your bustle options.

I don't like that particular bustle but I do love the train!!!

Also I think "bees" was referencing members on the "wedding bee" website...maybe she is a participant of both sites?

I like the train, not the way it's bustled so much though! I agree with some of the others, keep the train but find a new way to bustle it!

Not every bustle works well with every dress. The length of the train, and fullness of the dress can make a big difference in how the bustle lays/looks.

In addition to the one you've already posted, I like this one for your dress.

The train is beautiful, but I think that dress would also work without the train. Maybe you could remove the train and then just do a cathedral length veil, so you get the train, but then you can remove the veil after the ceremony and you won't have to worry about a bustle at the reception.

I say keep the train for one silly reason-- how many times in your life will you get to wear a train or a veil? Stupid reasons, I know, but that's part of why I had both.
