Wedding dress to tight in bust!

Ashboo, on May 15, 2013 at 1:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So I got my wedding dress yesterday and its too tight in the bust. It zips and everything but it is too tight. I am going to take it to see if it can be altered but I have heard it is hard to nearly impossible to make a dress bigger. It fits every where else perfect besides the bust. Also do you think I should have the lady who owns the boutique pay for it since she is the one who measured me and ordered the size I needed.

Thanks Ladies!

I highly doubt you could get the lady who measured you to pay for it...it's really common to have to have alterations done.

    Dresses can be let out.

I'd take it in and explain the problem. Let them come up with a solution before you go around demanding anything ;-)

It is not impossible for a dress to be let out. Any good seamstress will be able to help you or help modify your dress slightly to make it fit. I'm sure you have options! Smiley smile

Dresses (especially wedding dresses) usually have room to be let out. You'll be fine.

My dress was too tight in the bust and too big in the waist, and it was fairly easy for my seamstress to let it out where needed and take it in where needed. Usually wedding dresses have a bit of extra material in the back for that reason. It depends on the dress, but it shouldn't be a problem. It'll be grand.

Just get a breast reduction! Haha JK! I'm sure they will be able to let it out. Plus I doubt they would pay for it. I know at the salon I went to we looked at my measurements and the consultant made me pick the size based on my measurements. I figured it was because they don't want to be liable for picking the wrong size.

I'm sure it'll work out! Most dresses can be let out some. If not, maybe you can find a reducing bra or something?

I had the bust in mine taken out. If you can zip it up at all right now, it then it can be taken out enough to make it fit properly.

Usually they leave an inch on each side so that way it can be taken out.
