Wedding Dress Storage

Lorraine, on July 18, 2020 at 2:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
So, long story short, because of Coronavirus we had to reschedule our wedding for next year. The dress shop told me they don’t have enough storage space to keep it for another year and to pick it up. I have no where to store it.... has anyone else come across this or have any ideas what I can do? HELP!

I’m not sure if this will turn out the same for you. So back in 2017, I bought a dress and bought a dress bag for it and it has been in its box this whole time. Last year, I tried it on and it didn’t fit but it was in excellent condition and with no fading etc. Depending on the fabric as well, I would ask them what they recommend

I bought mine as a sample and had to take it with me immediately, so it lived in the back of my closet in a garment bag for a year until last month when I took it to the seamstress to be alerted. Would it not fit in your closet? Or if it’s in a box, possibly under the bed?

Well the problem is I have no where to put it so my fiancé won’t see it and the told me not to store it at a smokers house which leaves out my parents

A seamstress may be able to store your dress! The seamstress doing my alterations offered to store mine for two years since we had to postpone to 2022, but I decided to pick it up. Whoever was going to do your alterations may be able to safely store it (possibly for a fee).

I lived with my husband and he never looked at my dress. I had it in a closet for over a year. It could also lay flat under your bed.

I also rescheduled my wedding for next year. I arranged with one of my bridesmaids to store my dress at her place

Do you have any friends that can store the dress? I had my best friend’s wedding dress for a few weeks before her wedding because she didn’t want her husband to see and her mother smoked.

I’m not worried about him necessarily looking at it. It’s just that the dress is a kind abig so it won’t fit in my closet with all my other crap🙈 and the spare closet we have has coats and shoes in so he would see it trying to get in there.

Someone did mention asking friends or bridesmaids. I also didn’t think about under the bed!
