My seamstress included steaming in the cost of my alterations. Did you talk to your seamstress yet?

My wedding is in Chicago, I live in MI so that wouldn't work out unfortunately.

Mine was professionally steamed after it got altered -- but then we bought a hand steamer ($30 from Target) and used it to get a few last minute wrinkles out on the day of the wedding. We ended up using it to steam all 6 bridesmaids dresses (since they all had to fly to the wedding) and my veil as well!

Ok this is great news so can you give me detail on how to use it. Im so afraid of ruinning my dress. I heard horror stories of holes being placed in the tulle.

I had a giant thick satin skirt, so I wasn't worried about getting holes in that. For the veil, we just kept the steamer far enough away from it that it wasn't getting too hot, and moved it around constantly so the steam wasn't focused on one area (one of my bridesmaids was the one who actually did it, I was still in the make up chair getting ready). It worked well!

You have to be careful steaming satin so you don’t leave water/ steam marks. I would definitely use your concierge for a local recommendation. They can send it out for you.
