So my wedding dress skirt is pretty plain(no glitter or lace) anyone know where I can get an over skirt or overlay that I can place on top of the skirt to add some sparkle or floral lace?Wedding dress skirt 1

Is the picture in your post your dress or what you are hoping to achieve?

I think this dress is beautiful and not plain at all. In terms of sparkle, I've seen gowns with an iridescent or shiny layer right under the top layer. Another option is to hand-sew beadwork to the skirt, but I do think this will detract from the belt and neckline. Adding lace would be hard as they should match. I would ask the bridal shop if the designer can do either.

I think you can just add the sparkle and glam where it counts-- on your pretty face. You make the dress afterall, not vice versa. You can add sparkle with your make-up, jewelry, a headpiece or sparkly veil, and your bride smile. Good luck.

The lace on your bodice does continue onto the skirt, but I see why you may find it a bit plain. Personally, I think the wide tulle skirt balances out the complexity of the bodice and sleeves. I would reccomend asking your seamstress or bridal shop if it is possible to add a layer or two of sparkly tulle underneath the top layer that has the appliqués. That might add some of the sparkle you are looking for without disrupting the structure of the dress.

You could also ask if they have some closely matching lace that they can add on the hem or as additional appliqués to the skirt. Be careful that the lace matches or is quite close because it is noticeable when it does not!

    I don't think it's plain either.

but i've seen youtube videos of youtubers who will buy pieces of lace or floral appliques and they just stitch or glue it on their dress directly.

here's an example - start at 4:56 mark to see her start decorating her skirt:

Well thanks makes me feel better! Maybe I’m just over thinking but thank you so much great advice actually. Definitely will ask seamstress to add a glitter layer on the bottom 😅

You are so right when it comes to the matching lace part being tricky to find! Think I will skip the lace part and just add the sparkly tulle on the dress! Thank you so much for your advice
