Wedding dress shopping

Emma, on December 12, 2019 at 11:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hello there,
how many bridal shops or boutiques did y’all go to before you picked your dress? Right now I am scheduled for 3 all in one weekend. Is it too many or is it a good number?

Hey hey, hopefully you meant dress shops lol but I hit a total of 6 or maybe 7 🤔! I think it's good to keep your options open as many stores will carry different brands. Make sure to do a little research on the store to see what designers they carry. You don't want to waste time going there if they carry dresses that are not even close to your style.

Same, I went to 2, but had a pretty good idea of the designer I liked .

I only went to 1. I picked my dress the same day. I had an idea of what I wanted but didn't end up getting it and fell in love with something completely different.

I went to 11 over about 7 months. And no, 3 is okay. I did that a few times. Although, I wouldn't do more than 3 in a weekend. I was happy with 3 and anything more would've been draining.

This is a great number for a weekend! This not only gives you a chance to check out lots of variety in different settings while everything is still fresh in your mind, but it's not SO much that it's overwhelming. Because my parents live in different parts of the state, and I live in a whole other state entirely, we met in Charleston (in the middle! lol) and made three appointments for one weekend, leaving 1-2 hours between each one! That gave us time to think, talk, eat and regroup for the next appointment Smiley smile

I went to 2. My family flew in to check out dresses with me, so I needed to also take into account time to eat. Spent about 90 mins in each location. I tried on a lot of dresses in the first place, which helped out a lot because by the time we went to the second place we already knew roughly what style worked best with me and saved a lot of time going through dresses.

I technically went to two (I went to a David's Bridal the Monday I got engaged because I wanted to put a wedding dress on lol), but when I was seriously dress shopping, I only went to one place because they had the dress I was obsessed with (that I ending up getting!). I would check out some designer's websites and see what you like, and if those shops offer those dresses (I am partial to Morilee by Madeline Gardner. Her dresses are gorgeous and very affordable!)

Three different shops, four appointments. Went back to the second shop I visited after narrowing my focus and found the one! This was spread over 4 months or so.
