Congratulations on your engagement! If you are ordering a dress, try to order it sometime around 10-12 months before your wedding. This allows time for the dress to arrive (which can take around 6-8 months for some designers), plus 2-3 months for alterations. Otherwise, you can find a dress off the rack (depending on the store), or you can buy a dress at a sample sale. In those cases, you bring the dress home with you that day, and it's usually cheaper than ordering a dress. In any case, make sure to leave 2-3 months for alterations. Happy dress shopping!
