Wedding dress shopping!!

Alexa, on November 18, 2020 at 1:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I have my 1st wedding dress appointment next week and I could not be more excited! I was wondering what tips y'all have before going though? Fasting? Keeping an open mind? Hit me with it all!

That's so exciting!! Definitely be open to trying on all different styles, even ones you don't think you'll like. Often times, those are the dresses you end up liking best! I would eat something beforehand - it can be exhausting to try on a bunch of dresses, and you want to make sure you have the energy. If you have inspiration pictures, bring them with! Don't be afraid to tell the consultant what your thoughts are on each dress, especially if you don't like it. They won't be offended. You don't want to end up buying something that you aren't really sold on, since you may regret it later. If you find one that's almost perfect, but maybe you prefer a different neckline or back, ask if the dress can be custom ordered! I also don't recommend bringing too many people with - the more opinions, the more confusion, especially if all opinions are different. Your opinion is the most important. And above all, HAVE FUN!!! Dress shopping should be a fun experience. Happy dress shopping!

So exciting !!! I would say yes have an idea of what you want but definitely keep an open mind. I told the lady that was helping me to recommend something that would suit my height and body frame. I chose something that she selected which would've been "too much" for me but I loved it on. My only requirement was that it have an overskirt so I could have 2 looks in one.

That's something I recommend as well, if you're open to the idea of getting a dress with an overskirt because you can wear it for the ceremony and have a wow effect then take it off for the reception and be sexier / easier to move in.

    Have fun!!!!

Best advice is to have someone take lots of pictures of you in the dresses you like (if the boutique will allow it). It sounds like a small thing but seeing how I photographed in each dress made a huge difference. Also, please don't fast! The dresses you try on will most likely not be your proper size anyway; it doesn't matter how it fits next weekend, only how it fits on your wedding day! And if you find a dress you love, order the size you are, not the size you want to be. Dresses can be taken in much easier than they can be let out. Good luck - it is a lot of fun!

Definitely go with an open mind and try different silhouettes! Also don’t judge a dress by the way it hangs on the hanger. I’d ask your consultant what dresses they recommend for your body and style too since they play with the dresses all day and know the stock inside and out. Don’t fast, hydrate, but also don’t eat foods or drink drinks that are inflammatory. My number one takeaway from my trial....wear non-textured undergarments close to your skin tone. Lol that was my mistake.

Definitely keep an open mind! You will be surprised what you hate on the rack, but love on your body! Also, take photos of yourself in all of the dresses. It is so helpful to look at yourself in photos. Especially if you are torn between a couple of dresses and decide to leave, think about it, and go back on another date.

I wouldn't worry about fasting. You will order a dress that meets your measurements anyway and have it altered.

Bring a hair tie if you have long hair because you will get hot! Just something people don’t think about, but wedding dresses can be heavy and it’s a lot of work getting in and out! Make sure you bring some water if the bridal shop will allow it inside. Have an absolutely wonderful time! Oh also...don’t let anyone give an opinion until you’ve had the chance to view yourself in the mirror first. Not everyone will agree all the time, but it’s not about them! Make sure you can formulate an opinion first and stick to it!
