Is it customary for the bridal shop to ask for a tip when buying a wedding dress?

No, I don't think it's typical, though I have heard of some dress shops giving the option to tip at checkout. It isn't required or expected to tip a bridal consultant, but if they went above and beyond, you could tip if you want. However, there is no obligation to do so, so don't feel guilty if you choose not to tip when buying a wedding dress.

I tipped because my consultant was amazing at pulling exactly what I was looking for. But it’s not required if you feel you got ordinary service.

The salon I used doesn’t work off commission so I tipped my consultant when I put my dress deposit down.
