Wedding Dress Remake: Before/After

Elle, on May 19, 2017 at 10:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 52

Hello! I am curious about the brides who possibly remade an old dress, maybe mothers, grandmothers, friend, aunt etc. etc.

I was given a dress and decided to wing it and redesign it. Omg was that the most stressful, fun, rewarding and back to stressful thing EVER! Fortunately my Future MIL was a seamstress once upon a time and was able to help me through it all.

I'm so close to finishing mine and I'm finally starting to love it, after many many moments of fear and doubt...

Any brides out there have similar stories/pictures of their before and afters and how they felt about it?

Thank you so much! You wouldn't believe the process it was... It did not always look like this. So many moments of regret before seeing it all come together.

Haha - I didn't realize the first pics were like "before" pics and I thought you were keeping the giant arm things.

Doesn't even look like the same dress. It's very nice.

Wow!! That turned out amazing!! No stories to share. Everyone in my family has been divorced and remarried a few times. I wouldn't know which old dress to choose. Lol!!

Yes! The sleeves, and that giant butt bow were the first to go. And then I made a separate skirt out of tulle that fits over the dress and is removable. I wanted it to be strapless, but unfortunately after walking around in it I realized the satin is too heavy and am going to have to attach little straps to it, but I'm not too concerned about that.

I'm taking a family (from FMIL) dress, removing a big butt bow and redesigning the sleeves, but I'm not planning anywhere near the transformation you took it through! This is my gown, no changes made yet!
