Wedding Dress Regret???

Karissa, on July 22, 2019 at 7:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Ladies... I need help. I'm planning my wedding from where I live in Maryland, but the wedding will be in Wisconsin where we are both from. We flew back for three days to book our venue, DJ, Photographer... and for me to pick out a dress. I went to Davids, Vera's, and Brandi's.

I ended up purchasing a gorgeous dress at Brandi's (see Stella York 6690). I love it and it is beautiful, an A-line, but ever since I was young I always dreamed of having a ballgown style (thanks Disney).

There was a giant poofy dress at David's that was that style and I had so much fun twirling around in it. I felt like a princess. But the details were just off - the dress was fun to be in and I felt amazing, but the stitching wasn't perfect, and the transiiton from the top to bottom lacked great quality. My dress from Brandi's is stunning. Tulle, with a pinkish sparkly underlay that makes it sparkle when you moved. It felt so light and felt as if I was moving within a cloud.

BUT.... I can't get the David's dress out of my head and feel like I may have made the wrong decision. While I didn't like the lack of attention to quality and detail on that dress.. damn did I have fun in it. Twirling around... Hmm. I'm soooooo concerned and freaked out that I may have made the wrong decision.

Any advice?

Can you add a crinoline slip or hoop to the dress you chose to make the skirt fuller? It sounds like thats the only aspect of the davids dress you liked anyways. Ill bet you can adjust the one you picked to make it best of both worlds

Add some poof to your gown with a slip.

I absolutely love my dress, but I know how you feel. I keep comparing it to this other dress I tried on that would have been purchased had my dress never existed on this planet 😂. I keep torturing myself with what ifs and how good it looked on me. The cool thing with an a-line is that it's twirly, too. Try a poofy slip and see if it helps you get that princess feel!

No problem! Just remind yourself why you chose your dress. I keep having to relive the feeling I had when I tried mine on just to shut my head up. It was like an all over body chill that no piece or clothing has ever accomplished. Good luck!!

    Anna,

Thank you for the response! What I liked about the David's dress is that it was over the top, HUGE/ROUND skirt, and people better look out because there is a bride coming! I'm usually a behind the scenes person, but I want people to look at me on my wedding day and not be able to look away. If I have to have attention on me, something i'm not the most fond of, then I want to command the attention.

Adding a slip could potentially do the trick! Something to make it a big more "full" as you say, or not as A-line and more of a ball-gown look. Thanks again for the response!

There are detachable skirts you can wear over your dress as well

I got my dress and cried when I tried it on and knew it was the one, but felt like it was still missing something. I am totally going to do this too! Thank you!
