Wedding dress regret

Katie, on December 8, 2018 at 1:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
Hey ladies, have any of you experienced wedding dress regret or envy? Like, you can't help but think maybe you should have tried on more dresses or bought a different one? Help! I'm having those feelings, but my wedding is in April so there's almost no time to shop again. I do love my dress, I just keep having those thoughts. What do I do??

I personally haven't. Do you look at your dress periodically? Or is your dress at the boutique and they are holding it for you? Sometimes it may help to look at your dress from time to time and just imagine how beautiful you will look on your wedding day.

Yep! I feel ya. Can we add wish-I-had-a-better-body regret to that?? Lol. My dress was a bargain but needed a lot of alterations to make it fit, all of which, I had no idea, are costing more than the dress itself. If I was born with the body I wanted, I could have found a dress that fit and was what I wanted instead of picking one when I was up against a deadline! I'm only half kidding here. My dress was literally the last dress I tried on in the last store the last possible day before we left on a three-month RV trip, after which it would have felt incredibly late to restart the search.

Oh and can we add regret-I-am-not-incredibly-wealthy?? Cuz yeah, with the perfect body AND an unlimited budget, I woud have found the dress in the first round! 🤣😂

When I dropped off my dress to be fitted I saw this blush dress with thin sparkly straps thought I made a mistake but when I picked it up I looked amazing and I knew I made the right choice

I had a lot of moments feeling like this. Upon having to wait for my dress to get made, I kept seeing wedding dress posts all of Instagram. I kept saying “aw that looks way better than mine” or “I should’ve got this or that”.

The day I went to pick it up, they had a dress displayed that was STUNNING but once I put my dress on again, I knew I didn’t make the wrong decision.

I think every bride bride has had that moment of dress regret. For me it had to do with how much I was spending on it that was making me nervous and then seeing all these other dresses on social media.

Every once in a while. I even asked my consultant "should I be trying on more??" Because I only tried on about 4 or 5 and picked my dress the same day of my first appointment.

But then I see my dress or pictures online (dress is at a coworkers house and I have no pictures of me in it on my phone to prevent my FH accidentally seeing it) and I just get super excited again

Thanks everyone, your reassurances really help. I think my issue is I'm not happy with the way my body looks in the dress. I'm losing weight, but not as quickly as I had hoped. So now I'm worried that I picked a form fitting dress that I'll be uncomfortable wearing on my wedding day. I do look at pictures of it periodically and still love it, but there are still those insecurities.

What definitely helped is to stop following bridal accounts and hastags on social media. Except I do still look them up time to time. I worry that I should've tried on more A-line gowns at this point.

Kinda. I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted and created a similar look with separates. I LIKED my dress but didn’t love it. On the day with hair, makeup, jewelry, I LOVED my overall look! Don’t worry, trust your gut. It’ll all come together beautifully.

I reallllly struggled with this, but watching my dress transform as it was altered made me fall in love again. The pictures below go from buying (many sizes too big) to my 2nd to last fitting (shoulders are still getting altered). But it’s amazing how much it changes as you get it fit. Yes I still second guess sometimes if I should have kept looking to find the perfect dress, but I was in a time crunch and didn’t have time to over think.

    Well I loved my dress

until I paid to have it made lol

now I’m thinking I chose everything wrong and it’s not going to look anything like imagined

im still early and have plans for a 2nd Choice of a $60 dress that my bridesmaids are wearing but in white

Then I have a third choice but I’m feeling the same about it lately

im thinking about trying it on again to see if it makes me feel better

This is my second wedding, and I didnt even try my dress on yet haha, i just ordered it!! But my first wedding I ended up ordering two dresses because of second thoughts. In the end there isn't 'thee dress'. Its just a piece of clothing. If you have the money to buy another one then go for it. But I definitely think itd be a waste of money. You loved your original and that's why you bought it.
