So I’ve already bought my dress and I love it! It came in not too long ago and I went to try it on immediately of course. When I showed my future mother in law these pictures all she said was, “why do you look pregnant in it? It looks like you have a belly sticking out” then she proceeded to zoom in on my stomach area in the picture. I just stared at her with my mouth open. I didn’t even know what to say. Then she said “well, it’s a nice dress, I’m just being honest”. Do I really look bad in it? Should I wear spandex under it? Or is she just being mean? We usually get a long well so I don’t know why she would deliberately be mean. The only issue with spanx is the back is very low. Any suggestions if I go that route? She just has me feeling really bad about myself now and I’m very upset. My fiancé said she didn’t do it to be mean and she probably thought she was “helping” I don’t see how that’s helping though, because now I feel like not eating until November.

That was rude of her! Everyone has a little tummy, you definitely don't look pregnant.

Echoing PPs - your dress is beautiful and you look amazing in it. Please don't let FMIL get to you.

I had an extremely similar experience, and I have to say, I've had a few times I've worried about my dress. My dress is also mermaid, low back, and I ordered just about every waist cincher or spanx on the planet to try with my dress. There just wasn't any option for this with my dress. But have no fear!... it all turned out fine - once my seamstress worked her magic, the dress looks beautiful.

    (1) you'll be beautiful in your dress and your FMIL can...

    (2) bring up your concern to your seamstress, she will be honest, and fix anything that needs to!

Sorry you had to hear that. Not nice. You look wonderful and will on your wedding day!

That was a very unkind thing for her to say. Totally something my mom would do Smiley xd

I think it is harsh lighting in the photo. I see where the PP was going with the alterations she got as well, so maybe check in to that if it bothers you that much? I really don't think it's noticeable though.

Omg! If she thinks YOU have a “belly” than I must be a whale!
You look stunning and there is NOTHING to be worried about. Trust me.

I’m pretty sure it’s the shadow that’s making it look that way. It’s a gorgeous dress and you look beautiful. Also congratulations on the weight loss!

I think the lighting is horrendous. Do you know most camera people working in entertainment use special lenses that allow for the camera to be more foregiving? I know because I’ve been looking for a lens kit for my camera to “soften up” my clients and many of them cost more than a wedding dress.

I don’t think you look pregnant. I think the dress is a tad unforgiving in the pelvis area, but that can be fixed with a few adjustments in the shoulder and bust area. You might even try it on with a push up bra, you’re lucky and don’t really need one, but it just might pull your dress up just enough so it falls on your curves better. No, you don’t look fat to me. Just your FMIL has the tact of a brick going through a window. The dress can be adjusted; FMIL not so much.
