Wedding dress: online vs in-store

Brie, on September 18, 2020 at 5:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Hi everyone! Who here got their dress online? Who found it in a store/boutique? It seems that the boutiques have really expensive designer dresses, whereas online options are much cheaper. I want the freedom to try on different styles, but how difficult/impossible is it to do that with ordering online?

I found mine in a store, but I didn't really think to look online before I bought it. You could always go try on different styles in a store, so that you know what you like/don't like, and then find one online (potentially for cheaper) in the style you like.

Also, if you order your dress from Azazie, they allow you to try on the dress before you buy it from them online. That might be an option to consider.

I agree, it’s so important to try on different styles of gowns. You could try on in person, then order online...azazie and Cocomelody are both trustworthy sites for that, there are also sites like preowned weddingdresses.com and Stillwhite, when you can buy a used/sample/brand new designer dress for a much lower price.

Some in store boutiques seem really expensive because a lot of them don’t list out their prices, but I would say to keep an eye out for trunk shows and sales on their social media sites. I snagged a deal on my dress from a trunk show. I would say trying on the dress in person is pretty important to me, because honestly, I came in with an idea of what I wanted, but I ended up buying a totally different style dress.

I bought my dress online last year and I'd say due to everything going on, it'd be best to find a company that will do home try ons

Cocomelody and Azazie have try on at home programs.
Get on Yelp to find out what shops are in your area to try on styles. You don't have to make a decision but you get to see what styles work on your body and which don't without shipping fees.

I got my dress from BHLDN, which is worth looking into if there's one in your area. Most of their dresses are under $2000 and they have several under $1000.

I got mine online and have some pointers:
    1) look at return or refund policy
    2) look for reviews with actual customer photos3) try on gowns in person to know what styles work best4) if it’s cheap enough then go for it aha if it’s cheap where you aren’t losing much then it’s ok to just get it

I tried on my dress at David's Bridal! They allow you to have 2 guests with you and keep your mask on the whole time (you can take it off to take the "I Said Yes to the Dress" sign).

I bought my reception dress on clearance at a bridal shop for less than $200. It’s worth calling shops to ask about discontinued and sample sales.

I got my dress online from a bridal resale site called Stillwhite. All dresses are preowned but some have never been worn/tag still attached. I suggest you try on different silhouettes in person and then look for those online.
