Wedding dress nightmare :(

Lindsey M., on June 8, 2018 at 6:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I tried on my dress at David’s bridal and it was so cute. they had it all pinned up and ALL of my entourage had tears flowing!! But I finally received it in the mail and it doesn’t fit at all Smiley sad sleeves falling down, boobs WAY too big, zipper barely closing in the back. We have to get alterations of course, but the sleeves and top are mesh so I’m scared it’ll be difficult and expensive. I know it’ll *probably* work out and be fine, but I’m stressed and really bummed. I just want to look perfect and when I put it on again I just felt ugly. can anyone else relate? How did you get through wedding dress blues?

Hi Lindsey!! Boy, can I relate. Same story. I went through the same experience this past Sunday. I've been bummed all week. Simply heartbroken. My gorgeous dream gown is now a hated article. I'm SO disappointed. And I feel so UGLY in this gown!!! I don't want anyone to see me in this dress! I don't have the time to find another one, nor can I spare the expense. I'm praying my seamstress can work miracles. My bridal salon owner basically said, " tough luck." The alterations are going to be approximately $1000.00. I had been told I'd probably only need minor alterstions of no more thsn $300.00. I'm just ill. I did pay quite a bit for my gown, but I blame the bridal salon. It's not even the color I thought it'd be. The dye lot is all off. I'm going to try to make the best of it. If not, I'm afraid we'll get married by ourselves, but not have our wedding. I pray you have a wonderful seamstress and we can both laugh about this later. Best wishes!!

A good seamstress will make the difference! My dress was custom measured and it still came out too loose in the back (lace V-back lower than what I thought it would be), a little tight and my sleeves were falling off. My boobs were also "going a different direction" like my mom liked to say than the boobs of the dress.

I lost a little weight but the seamstress as able to fix everything else and this was detailed and beaded lace on the back!

    good luck Smiley smile

I had to go through SIX fittings to get it right!! My frustration was through the roof. But it really all came together just in time for the big day. A seamstress can work wonders. So although I know you’re going to stress anyway, try not to. They’re professionals and they deal with these fit issues and complicated fabrics all the time. It might take a few appointments but you will get there!
