Wedding dress late arrival

Yesenia, on May 31, 2019 at 1:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

So I am in a bit of a pickle with my wedding dress. I ordered it mid February and was quoted 15-16 weeks to arrive. I called the bridal shop to follow up to get a rough estimate of delivery date now they tell me it won't arrive until August. I am upset because my wedding is Sept.1st and that means I will be rushing to get the alterations done. When I purchased the dress I specifically asked the sales person about delivery time she said at the latest it would need to be in by July to get alterations done. I was also counting on my dress to get accessories for my hair and jewelry and shoes. I told the shop about this and they said I was welcome to come in to try the sample one again which is a large size I am a very petite woman size 0. I also was going to purchase a veil from them but at this point I really don't want to. I am not sure what to do in this situation any advice?.

Unfortunately it sounds like there's probably not much you can do. I doubt they're breaching any kind of contract, so continuing to contact them for updates seems like the best option to me. If you haven't already, I'd also consider picking someone to do alterations and explaining the situation to them to see what they can do to get you in ASAP once your dress arrives. As for a veil, unless they have something you absolutely can't get anywhere else, I'd go somewhere else.

I agree with PP. Talk to your seamstress ASAP so they can get you in as soon as your dress arrives.

It sounds like everything would be doable in terms of time, it just would be not as much time or too rushed. if i were you, i would speak to their management and ask for a discount or something. i think i would be pretty upset if the delivery time were that different too so they should ideally have good customer service and make it up to you somehow. i know it may not be their fault, necessarily but i think a good customer service place would do something like that to try to calm you and make it up to you.

The alterations will be done in house but I'm worried they'll be hurried and higher probability of errors. I work in customer service and as a courtesy I think if someone would have reached out to let me know ahead of time I would feel a little better of the situation. It's just a bit of annoyance that I feel after people make the sale their customer services just goes down. I appreciate all the advice. I'll probably call the manager to give her my feedback so future brides will have a better experience with them than I am having.

Definitely call the manager and explain the situation and that you're really uncomfortable with the drop in customer service to the point where you're having a hard time to trust them to alter it correctly. They should absolutely be trying to make that up to you
