Wedding dress issues!

Jocelyn, on August 27, 2019 at 3:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15
So I got a dress from a newish dress designer who custom fixed a few things from one of her dresses I liked. Can anyone give me some good opinions on this dress and what you think should be changed? I thought the waist sat a bit too low for my liking and Im not usually a fusy person but the designer doesn't seem to want to fix things about it. Should I take the dress or a seamstress after picking it up or am I being too nitpicky? I want to be in love with my dress but I don't want to be rude and change up a lot of things about it after she's made it.

I personally like it, you look like a princess. I do see what you mean about the waist being a bit low though

The waist doesn't look low to me, but obviously you know your body better than anyone else. Since this isn't a custom gown, I wouldn't expect the designer to continue to make changes for you. That's what alterations are for.

I wouldn't have thought anything of the waste until you said something. If it bothers you, I would take it and get it altered somewhere else. The dress itself is absolutely gorgeous!! I'd love to know what kind of veil you're wearing with it.

Another idea ... have you tried putting a belt on it? That might make the waist look a little higher.

Can you put a sparkly belt around the waist? The dress is pretty!

The dress is beautiful try using a blinged out belt . Your waist line doesn’t look low at all,and I’m still trying to find where it is your talking about.

I agree with this. I think the waist looks fine honestly, but if it really bothers you, alterations would be the next step since like Caytlyn mentioned, it's not a custom made dress. It is a beautiful dress though and it looks lovely on you!

I think what you’re seeing as too low is that the skirt hits just below your natural waist. So it’s slightly below the narrowest part of you. While I think the dress is beautiful, if you really want it raised up I don’t think it would be too difficult if a fix. I am also not a seamstress and really can’t say for sure. But if you do have it raised, it’s going to change the look of the dress and I would think make the skirt look fuller over your hips. Which isn’t a bad look, just different. I think it would be pretty either way.

Have you thought about adding a belt? It might help fell the empty space. Idk if that's like the right term but I fell like a little tiny belt might do the trick for you!

I feel like the bodice needs more shaping with some well placed darts. If it were more formfitting, I don’t think the slightly dropped waist would be an issue. Gorgeous dress, though!

Can you add a thick belt? That might make up for the lower waist. I think the dress is gorgeous!

I'd take it to alterations. They could give you a better idea about what can be done and maybe sample how different the dress would look if you raised the waist or added a belt. Go with your first instinct!

Personally I wouldn't change it. The waste line makes you look slim and tall. Granted I think you are a slim person but the waste line is very flattering on you. I love your dress.

    I absolutely love this dress!
But I agree on the belt if you think it's too low for you
