Wedding Dress - Having second thoughts

Marissa, on February 23, 2017 at 7:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I bought my dress on my 2nd visit to the store, and i'm now realizing that I keep second guessing myself. I also did something pretty stupid, I never tried sitting in the dress before I purchased it. So now I have to wait till it arrives in July Smiley sad

I was hoping I could get your opinions on the dress. (The dress in the picture was way too big so it was clipped, they're ordering it in a petite size due to my lack of ... height lol)

Much thanks in advance!

@FutureMrsE Do you think the veil is too much? I can't decide if I love it, or if it's too much lol

I think the veil is too much - it takes away from the drama of the skirt and makes it look messier rather than enhances it.

I wouldn't worry so much about not having tested out how it feels to sit in it - even if you had, like you said, the dress you tried on was several sizes too big and with the clips holding it together, it wouldn't have been a true test at all.

I love the dress but agree you should get a simple veil so that it will not take away from the amazing dress!

I think the dress is beautiful. That looks like the DB in Westbury, NY.

I think the dress is beautiful. I personally think the veil takes away from the dress a little, but I'm also not big on long/cathedral veils, so take that with a grain of salt. Don't feel bad I ended up needing a petite too lol. I'm 4'11 and they said it would save money in alterations since my dress has lace at the bottom of it.

@Marissa, I love the veil but have you tried a shorter one? just to compare, I agree, lots of drama (beautiful) at the bottom.

I would try a fingertip length (at the longest) veil, rather than the cathedral length. As PP have said, it takes away from the drama! Also, I have a feeling that once the dress arrives in your actual size, you're going to fall in love with it all over again.

First off, this dress is stunning on you! This is my favorite Oleg Cassini mermaid dress right now. I agree with PP that a shorter veil would go much better with this dress. As a stylist at Davids Bridal, I would never have put a long veil with this dress because it rakes away from the drama of the bottom. Also, if you are worried about not being able to sit, you can have alterations leave it slightly looser in the hip area

@FutureMrsE I did try on a couple of shorter veils but I felt like it actually took away from the drama of the dress

I looks beautiful- I'd scratch the veil though- it isn't doing anything for you.

You don't NEED one- feel free to just do without.

Change the veil for sure. You already have enough detail on your dress. Dont overdo it
