Wedding dress for June 2019

Shana, on December 1, 2018 at 11:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Hi ladies,

I am having our wedding on June 28th, 2019, has everyone actually ordered their wedding dress already for a June wedding? I am not going till the end of this month to go try on gowns and I am not sure how long it normally takes for dresses to come in. I just want to make sure I am not waiting too long to go dress shopping. However, my mother and sister won't be home from Florida till the end of this month which is why I am waiting to go dress shopping.

Hey Shana. I’m getting married on June 1, 2019. I already went dress shopping and I actually got the call today that my dress is in. You don’t want to wait too much longer because you don’t know how long your dress may take to come in. Don’t forget to account for alterations.

How long ago did you order your dress?

Every shop is different. Your dress may come in quickly. You may need special sizing or a custom dress which will obviously take longer. I believe I ordered my dress two months ago.

Definitely get in ASAP to pick your dress! If it’s being custom made, it can take many months to be ready. My wedding is June 15 and I already have my dress. It took about 3 weeks to come in (which is super fast! I didn’t have it custom made), but alterations will start at least 2 months in advance of the wedding.

I bought my dress in July and got it 2-3 weeks later. I agree with pp it all depends on the dress you choose. I would assume the associate that helps you when you go dress shopping will let you know what dresses you could buy that would be ready in time for your wedding. Best of luck, hope you find THE dress!!

Thank you! I will definitely talk with the shop to see what dresses I will be able to order! Two months is not too bad.

I am hoping it does not have to be custom made but I guess you truly don't ever know. That is very fast. Can I ask who your designer was?

Thank you so much! I had contemplated on just doing a FaceTime with my mother and sister to have the dress shopping a little sooner but they wanted me to wait till they were actually here.

I think the moment would be more special with your mother and sister there. When I went dress shopping my mom wasn't planning to go because she had to work but we made it work and I'm so glad she ended up going! She usually doesn't give opinions on things and when I found my dress she cried and told me she loved it! I would recommend that you make 2 or 3 appointments on the same day incase you don't find your dress in the first store that way you're not having to wait longer on finding your dress by making other appointments later.

I agree. I want the moment to be special as well. I think I would be really sad if they did not get to attend picking out my dress in person. That is a very good idea. I actually was not thinking about doing that. Thank you for the advice!

I made about 3 appointments one was early around 10 and then we went out for lunch. After lunch, we went to David's bridal and the third one was supposed to be right after David's David's bridal but I found my dress and cancelled the 3rd appointment. Be sure to update us on your dress!! 🙂

Our wedding is June 29th and I ordered my dress late September and I’m nervous about getting it in with enough time for any alterations... it’s a custom made dress so the shop said it could take up to six months. But whatever shop you go to shouldn’t let you try on dresses that may not come in on time! It all depends on what dress/designer you chose.

I just ordered my dress last weekend (a Madison James gown) and it’s supposed to be here mid-April. This is a popular time to order gowns for summer weddings so it’s going to take a little longer than ordering other times of the year. Also if your Dress is being made in China they take time off in Jan/Feb for lunar new year celebrations. It all depends on the designer and whatever bridal salon you go to will only show you dresses they know they can get in time.

I ordered mine in July and it is still not in. They told me it would be about 6 months before it comes in. It’s not customized or anything. I’m sure it just depends on where you go and the designer.

I would get in ASAP! My wedding is in August of 2019, I ordered my dress at the beginning of April this year and it's still not in. It's been 8 months. Should be in within the next few weeks. Every dress/shop is different. With only being 7 months out, you would need to find a dress that would come in March or so so you have enough time for alterations if needed. You always have the option to buy off the rack too, but that will limit your choice of dresses. Definitely talk to the shop to see which dresses would come in on time so you know your options!

My wedding is June 15th, and I found my dress last November. The order was officially placed in January since the dress design wasn’t released when I said yes to the dress. After 3 mistakes on the boutique’s part, my dress with the correct customization finally came in around July. Yes, July! I recommend you start dress shopping soon because you never know what mishaps may arise in between time. Thank goodness I didn’t have my wedding this past June 15th, I wouldn’t have my dress in time😅

Buy it soon. Depending on the shop, it can take 4-6 months to come in and a month for alterations but some places have diff timelines or you can buy off the rack.
