Wedding dress for February 2021

Crystal, on May 23, 2020 at 9:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
Normal wedding checklists suggest making a purchase 8 months out - for me that’d be June 2020 for our February 2021 wedding. But with covid19 I can’t book an appointment anywhere (all the retailers are closed until further notice here). I know I can do at home stuff with places like Azazie, but I’d really like to try and get that bridal experience in store if possible. I’m hoping if I hold out long enough, places will reopen, but obviously I need my dress and alterations done in time. How close do y’all think I can cut it for a deadline to order a dress?

Maybe August? A lot of dresses at DB take 4 months plus a month for alterations.

I went shopping and ordered my dress that day and had it in my possession 4 weeks later. Granted it was before all this covid junk... but I think you'd have enough time. As long as you're not going with something totally custom or special ordered from specific designer I think by August you should have it ordered and be ok with getting it and getting alterations. Definitely start trying to see when you can get into a shop to give yourself enough cushion and talk to the salesperson about timeline.

Ask the bridal shops for designers that allow rush fees. It may be worth it. From working in a bridal shop, I understand Moonlight Bridal dresses can come in fairly quickly without a rush fee.

I wouldn't go past August, just to be safe. One thing that may help is ordering samples from Azazie to try on at home and give yourself a better idea of what you want when you go shopping. Then you have a better chance of knowing your taste (since it changes sometimes when you put the dress on) and actually finding your dress that day and not having to go back for another appointment later.

If you have a Davids Bridal near you, try there! Most of their dresses are in stock and will be in in a matter of a couple weeks. Some of them are special order but not too far out. Our wedding is January 2021 and I ordered mine yesterday. The latest it will be in is Mid August for a special order! I hope this helps. Happy Dress Shopping! Smiley smile
