Wedding Dress Doubt 😩

I felt the same way when I picked up my dress. sleepless nights on what I should do. I made an appointment at a different place. I actually did try on other dresses while already having mine at home. Didn't feel the same way I felt when I got my original dress. Fast forward to my first alterations and all that they are going to "fix" I fell in love with my dress. I cant wait to pick it up and see it. Basically I was worried about the fitting, if this is your reason then I wouldn't worry because alterations work miracles. Don’t overthink not being able to dream about it. Wedding dress shopping is overwhelming and after the fact all the little details start to blend together in a way that ultimately blurs everything. I took lots of pictures of my dress when I tried it on and while I waited for it to come in , I had to refer back to the pictures to remember all the little details. It’s also totally okay and normal to go back and re try on the dress that you already chose , spend some time in it, move around in it, and make sure you love it. Nothing silly about that!

I completely get it. I think I found my dress but I have an appointment in 12 days and I will be choosing then. I found a dress that almost made me cry. So I'll be trying on two others as well as the one that almost made me cry just to see if it does the same thing.

I bought a dress that I never expected I would even try on. It was over 3x what I had budgeted. When I got home, I Googled the dress & absolutely hated how it looked on the models & immediately started having doubts. When I looked at pictures of me in it, I still loved it, but then I started picking it apart. After a couple of weeks though, that feeling disappeared. I started picking my accessories and hairstyle, etc. once I could envision how it was all going to come together, I felt great about the dress. And even better once it came in and I was able to try it on in my size. I have my 1st fitting this week & I’m so excited! I think doubts are normal.

Wedding dress shopping is hard. You love it when you try it on, but even if you take pictures in the shop, something feels off. You look at the models wearing your dress and you think "no way I looked that good!" And you have second doubts. Of course you do, the dress you tried on in the shop wasn't your size. It's clipped and held and stretched and scrunched to "fit" you in the moment, just as that showroom dress has been done to tens of bride's. It's missing beads and the lace is slightly torn in that one spot.


My advice is to stop looking at dresses. No more looking, no more shopping. You can look at yours. And if you ordered that dress, you wait until it comes in in your size. It'll still be too long, and it still needs minor adjustments, but you'll feel better. Attached are pictures of my dress when I picked it out (and had the BIGGEST doubts later that night), when it first came in, and on my wedding day. Wedding dresses look *weird* until they're properly fitted. Until then, if you keep looking for other dresses, you'll only end up confusing yourself

Wedding dress shopping is the worst let me tell you I have bought three dresses returned one. Bought another only later to realize that I hated it. I finally went out dress shopping by myself and found the perfect gown that feels like me. I found that my dress choices were largely dictated by other peoples opinions and those are the dresses that I actually took back. I’m not sure anybody my dress until I walked on the aisle not even my mother.

I had serious dress buying regret - it was a silhouette I wasn't originally interested in and strapless - which I do not feel very comfortable in. We are adding straps - but I was getting really very nervous and felt dread at picking my dress up - the great news is when I got in it again and envisioned the straps - I fell in love with it all over again. Reading these comments makes it seem this initial regret/ nervousness is normal ! I felt a 100X better after picking up the dress - a complete 180 from where the day started.
