Wedding Dress doesn't fit!

Stephanie, on February 13, 2018 at 8:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Went for my first fitting today, I am 25lbs lighter then I was when I ordered it and it's too small at my ribcage. Seamstress said if I want to keep the built in belt then there is nothing that can be done. Ladies if you order a Stella York dress I highly recommend ordering a size up. I feel like everything that could go wrong is going wrong lately and didn't think my dress would be too small. I am a street size 4 and ordered a size 10 gown. Anyone have any tips to get a smaller rib cage in 3 weeks LoL?!?

I am having the same problem. I ordered the size the shop suggested based on my measurements. When it came in just before Christmas, it was too small. She said to me "uh oh, has there been a little weight gain happening". No. No. No. I'm not a tiny gal, I have some definite pudge but I did not gain any weight. I'm sure I have now that the holidays are over. Crap. She was able to zip it but didn't want to leave it zipped due to too much stress on the zipper. She said, try to lose some weight, and the seamstress could most likely let out the seams. If not, I could always add a corset back. Would adding a corset back be an option? I am so scared for my first fitting appointment.

No not an option at all for me, the entire back is sheer fabric.

No because the belt is very intricate beading and rhinestone that is made on the dress and unless we could find an exact match there is nothing that can be done with it. I basically just won't be able to breathe the day of I think.

Did they not measure you correctly when they ordered it?

Oh no! Not breathing or moving freely for a day is awful.

So when I tried on the sample dress it fit perfect, and my measurements were right on for it. We tried back on the sample today to see what happened since I have lost weight since the measurements were taken. Turns out the sample doesn't have the Hook and Eye that is creating the problem. But at the same time I don't want to go without this because it shows off my small ribcage well when it is hooked it is just very uncomfortable and very tight creating unsightly back fat lol. The owner of the dress shop actually left me a voicemail this evening saying she thinks she came up with a solution so fingers crossed.
