Wedding dress disaster

I ordered my wedding gown in November of 2018. I was told it would come in after 3-4 months which was totally fine since our wedding is not until February of 2020. After hearing nothing from the shop since I ordered the dress I decided to call last Friday (May 17) and received an email back today with not good news. I was told that she received my dress 2 weeks ago but instead of the size 6 she ordered, they had sent a size 2. She said she immediately sent it back and inquired about a new one but they replied that that was not possible as the dress had been discontinued in March. I was given 2 options from her: she can try and make the dress or she will give me 50% off any dress in the shop and use the $1100 I already spent towards that. I called the shop with no answer and also emailed back asking that she call me as I was not going to deal with this over email. I have yet to hear back but I no longer trust this shop to provide me my dream dress. The dress was my dream dress and I looked through her entire inventory online and found nothing that compared in my eyes. I would really rather just take my money elsewhere, however I fear she won't give it back. I am just not sure what to do and completely upset that I will not get the dream dress I had been expecting for nearly 7 months.

I know you dont want to deal with this via email, but getting everything in writing is a very good idea right now.

Get it all in writing, now. Tell her via email you want a full refund, nothing less and you will be shopping elsewhere as you do not feel her current inventory suits your needs. Put a deadline by when you want the refund by and tell her you'll persue legal action if she doesn't.
At the very least you can report the shop for theft, they took your money and did not give you the product.

Agreed with PP. This is definitely a situation where having it in writing is important.

This for sure. Your not getting what you purchased which should have been resolved the moment they got it in. It’s conpletely on them and they owe you your money back.
