Wedding Dress Dilemma

C Camp, on July 13, 2020 at 3:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi All,

I am in a wedding dress dilemma. My wedding was scheduled for July 31 so I ordered my wedding dress in January and was told that my dress was going to arrive in June. As we all know Covid threw a wrench in things so I reached out to the bridal company to find out if anything had changed with the shipping in my dress. I received an email response stating that the dress was scheduled to arrive "the first week of July at the latest". So I called the bridal shop on July 9th for an update and was informed by the lady on the phone that my dress is now scheduled to arrive in SEPTEMBER because the manufacturer couldn't get the lace. Which gives me the impression that the dress wasn't even finished at the time that I asked when it would be sent. The lady I spoke to told me she would check on the status and get back to me. Now in June I informed the company that I was planning to do a courthouse ceremony July 31 but the celebration would be Jan 1. Nonetheless I was still under the impression that my dress would be here at the beginning of July so that if I chose to wear my dress I could. So I called back again today July 13th to follow up and first the lady told me that "these dresses usually take 7-8 months to make so that would mean it would be August before it arrives." Which is crazy because my date is July 31 so why wouldn't I have been informed of that in the beginning. Why would I purposely buy a dress that wouldn't come in time? Then she tells me she has a wedding date of November 2020 for me, which that was never a date. Then she tells me that they see I changed my date to January 2021 so they are prioritizing sending out dresses by who needs them sooner. But if that is the case, why wasn't I informed of that during the follow up? If that's the case I wouldn't have my heart set on getting my dress in July! Then she said she will talk to the manager and call me back at the end of the day.

Am I crazy?? I know Covid has screwed everything up but what's up with the mixed up information and the lack of communication. During this whole time no one from the bridal salon has reached out to me. I've had to contact them. I've gotten no updates on anything. I feel like I should just get my money back because I'm getting the run around.

No you are not crazy and they made a mistake on their end. I would call and see if you can cancel and get a refund and most likely they may say no but then ask for a dress that is avail in the store because that is BS. I am so sorry.

Thank you! I was thinking that as well that I'd rather just get something off the rack at this point and be done with them.

I’m sorry and you aren’t crazy. I would be very disappointed as well. They definitely should have kept you informed throughout all of this.

I would for sure call and see what your options are and even see if you can get a store credit because they should have communicated better and they messed up on their end. Fingers crossed things work out.

Thank you. To be honest I would have been ok if they told me there were major delays when I followed up the first time, but now it just looks like they don't have a clue and it's frustrating.

That's what I'm going to do when she calls back. All of this has been stressful enough and I just want to move on.

That is just poor customer service and communication all around. Rather than being proactive and contacting you to let you know things would be delayed, you’ve had to contact them, and they still dropped the ball. I would be upset and I would certainly request a full refund at this point.

That is ridiculous. I would march right over to the store and tell them that you’re not leaving until you have your dress or your money back.

I was hoping it wouldn’t come to that but clearly they think this is a game and they treat customers however they want.
