Wedding dress dilemma - pregnancy

Cara, on November 24, 2022 at 11:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Okay so my current measurement were 32, 25, 34. I just found out I’m pregnant, the wedding date is May 6th, I’ll be 25 weeks when I get married. Per the dress sizing I’m a size 2, but I’m thinking about buying a 4 or 6 due to the pregnancy. The dress is a ballgown with a petticoat and has a lace up corset. Should I get a size 4 or 6? I would get the 6. It's better to have it bigger and take it in then to not have enough fabric to work with.

The breast cups with boning might be hard for a seamstress to take in. (Mine had the same issue) so although I’d suggest a 6, I’m worried about the size of the top.

I think if you brought your unaltered dress to the seamstress no more than one month from your wedding day, they would be able make it fit.

Have you considered dress shopping again and picking a different dress, more conducive to pregnancy bump?

Sorry I don’t have more advice. Good luck!

If you have not purchased the dress yet, I would consider another silhouette that is more giving in the mid section.

I agree with Shannon. By 25 weeks you’ll have a noticeable bump. That silhouette, while lively, does not look like it will go nicely over a bump.
If you must have this dress, I’d get the 6.

I would consider a different dress with a less defined and constraining waistline.

I'd probably go with the 6 just to be safe!!

Size 6 is generally a usual retail size 2. I am nearly same measurements and retail 2, dress was a sample 6, still had to be altered. 1–consider a different dress if you can - your breast size will significantly increase - and you will def be more comfortable with sleeves or straps (mine was strapless & had trouble getting it to stay up without making the lower bodice v tight. Looked great, but… 2- consider a different bodice style as this silhouette will be difficult to carry off at 25 weeks when you have a bump. That much skirt will be heavy & your back may not care for that AND the baby. Good luck & post your final decision!! (BTW - I have a gorgeous designer dress for sale that can be let out to your specs)
