Wedding Dress didn't come in yet!!!!!!!

Octbride, on July 22, 2010 at 4:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

I have never dealt with such incompetent people in my life. I ordered my dress back in December 2009 and it still has not come in. I was told it should be in at the end of May 2010, it keeps being delayed. Not only is it not in yet, but no one called to let me know it is delayed still. I keep calling, going in and get only rudeness from all associates who work at the bridal boutique. Last week, the store manager assured me that it was shipped and would arrive this week. That was last Monday. Help! What should I do now?

Give them a drop dead date. What is your contract with them? I assume you have paid for the dress, or a deposit at least. If it is not in by XXXX date, you want a full refund. Period.

I've heard there are more and more brides whose dresses are being delayed- but they should be in contact with you a bit more.

Ask for shipping info. Get tracking numbers. The designers also give them a date that it will arrive in the store, get that.

    Who is the designer?

Mine was ordered August 09 and it isnt in either. I know them at the store which is why I am not too worried but first it was july, then aug, now sept. They know I'll come up in there and tear sh** up if my dress is not there by the beginning of Sept. I would go back to the boutique/salon and find the manager again. speak to her calmly once. You expect a firm delivery date to be provided and a person responsible if it does not come in time. Be sure to tell them and the rude a** associates that you don't want to have to come back to that dang store with Libragurl because they'll get cut!

The designer is Maggie Sottero. I called today and they said the manager was on the phone with someone else and had to call me back. I had my mom go in and they told her the same thing and that the dress takes 7 days to come in. Well it should have been in two days ago if that's that case. We have already paid 85% of the dress total. I have spoken to someone at Maggie Sottero who said that the dress was ready and should be shipped last week, which is then why the manager told me she was shipping it. I have so had it with this store. They are all so incompetent and ignorant that they should never be in business. Oh, and did I mention that my bridesmaids dresses are delayed also from this place. Surprise, surprise! It amazes me how many terrible vendors you deal with when you are planning a wedding. Also, my wedding is super expensive. I have not gone cheap with anything and it is not paying off.

Thanks ladies for the comments though. It helps just to know I am not the only one going through this terrible experience.

Have you gotten gutter with them? I mean really...you sound very nice and maybe you don't need to be so nice to them right now. Someone needs their head torn off for that type of unwanted stress.

Hey Melissa, I ordered a Maggie in January, and it was supposed to come in at the beginning of this month, and it hasn't come in yet, either. I called the dress shop and they said it should be here by the end of the month, but I'm starting to get a little worried about that, too. I'm thinking something is going wrong with the designer.

Mine is also a maggie sottero and was delayed. I ordered it last september and did not get it until june...it was supposed to come march. It was not on the stores end though...when I called they called the manufacturer and they said it would be shipped later that week so then the beginning of the next week the boutique called me and said it was in.

Its wedding season and as more orders pile in the designers get bogged down which doesn't totally make sense to me but I guess it depends on the collection. Some gowns take more time but the bridal salons should at least keep the lines of communication open with their brides.

The designer actually said my dress was ready, done and sitting in their store room waiting to be shipped. Maggie also told me that it is the bridal store that chooses when they want your dress to ship because they have to pay for it when it is shipped. I've heard that bridal stores are purposely shipping them later because they are behind on paying for the dresses. This is why they don't ship them on time. I spoke to two managers at Maggie and they both said that Maggie isn't running behind on their dresses so it makes me think that the bridal stores are just taking advantage of us.

Also, as an fyi, I ordered a different Maggie dress first in November 2009 and I didn't like it. I was stuck with paying for it because the order was already placed. That dress came in in April 2010!!! That is only 5 months! This was from a different bridal store go figure. I should have stuck with them. I ended up just selling that dress on ebay.

Ugh, I really hope that's not the case with my shop. If the dress doesn't come in by the end of this month, I'm going to have to verbally assault somebody over there...

I never thought about that...so it being 2 months late could have been my boutiques fault...oh well its here now, and hopefully yours will be soon too!

Yes, it is the shop's fault. What my consultant told me a long time ago (we are friends) is that the salon will wait for months sometimes to be able to have enough to order to make the shipping worthwhile (apparently there is a quota(s) involved as well). So even though they may tell you that is has been ordered, often it has not. Then the shop blames the designer, mostly because they know you won't call them (or at least they are betting on it). SOunds like that is exactly what happened here. Sucks.

MEHHHHHH.... That's what I say to the shop. Like we need red tape and drama like this in the last few months before our weddings when we're already insanely stressed out. Argh.

It sounds indeed a little frustrated.Compared to you, it seems like I am lucky. I have a hurried engagement, so both parent of I an my fiance insist that we should hold our wedding in two month. Thus I have less time to make my dream dress carefully. I was advised to buy my dress online off the rack in a store trustedeal.com who assures me of 20-25 days in all for my dress. Now the fact have been turned out. I will wear it on my wedding of next week.
