Wedding dress cost

Everyone will answer this question differently. I went shopping at a consignment store with a $500 budget, got a sample dress for $700, and then spent $800 on alterations so it all came out in the wash. I still spent less than I would have if I bought the dress new for $1400 and then still would have had to pay about the same amount for alterations (it's all lace and had to be almost completely re-constructed due to weight loss), so that's how I'm making myself feel better about the high price of the alterations!

My budget was only $500. I bought my dress on consignment for that, but then it cost me half that for alterations :-/ So I cut back on other wedding expenses like skipping STDs/programs and spent less on flowers and decor.

It really depends on your budget, how long you have to look and your believing to get the best deal. I went looking "for fun" with my mom and found my dress for under $400 (my budget was $500-800) at David's bridal. If you know your budget it will help save you time and angst. Remember to have fun!

My mom paid for my dress, and it was $1700 after tax. I NEVER would have been able to afford that on my own, and nor did I expect her to spend that much. A friend of mine got hers at David's Bridal for $499 and it's beautiful! It all depends on your budget. I know that the David's Bridal semi annual sale is a life saver for a lot of brides.
