That is a personal question. For me I am wearing my dress the ceremony and for the dinner after as I spent money on it and I won't have a chance to wear it again lol. I think if you are comfortable in it then wear it all night.

As Kristen said, it's up to you what you want. This dress was the most expensive piece of clothing I will probably ever buy, so I wore it the whole time. I've actually only ever seen a dress change on tv. I've never known anyone personally who did it.

This is definitely personal preference. I knew one person who wore a detachable full ball gown skirt during the ceremony and removed it during reception for dancing, so kind of changing but not full on changing. I love my dress and I’ll only be in it fine to six hours max anyways.

Which is better is totally a personal preference. But, I wore my dress all night! It wasn’t uncomfortable at all and I could dance easily. I had a tulle fit and flare for reference.
I’ve seen 2 people change and one put on a t-shirt and leggings and the other was just as casual. I’ve never seen anyone change into a different dress.

I'll be staying in my dress.i don't even know if of when I'd have time to change anyway. Some brides make it work though. Totally up to you.

I want to wear my dress for as long as I can, since I only get to wear it once! It's such a personal preference, especially if there are two dresses you absolutely love and can't decide between. If you can afford two dresses and want to wear both, I say go for it! Otherwise, find one dress you really love and wear it all day!

Huh...neither have I lol. Well except I did for one wedding but it really was just a post wedding party for a friend who already had her wedding in the state where she grew up and had a mini renewal ceremony for friends and family in the current state she lived in for the party after she changed into a dress her aunts brought her from Colombia. And my bf but she was not the wedding type and she is like 5'0 and had on a huge ballgown so she changed later during the reception but she wore it for most of the wedding. I guess it is more on TV you do see it. Like you say most weddings I have been to the bride never changed.

I did not but I think it’s a good idea. Being able to move around in a smaller and slimmer dress during the reception sounds nice

Outside of online wedding pictures where it's part of the cultural traditions to change into other outfits, I have never once seen a bride in real life change into a separate dress for the reception. Most women only get married once and a dress can cost up to $1000 to only be worn for one hour?
Personally I would want to wear the dress as long as I could. But everyone has their preferences.

Another idea is to look for a dress you can move in that you don't have to change into another.

I’m planning to change my dress after the formalities. So I’ll wear it during the ceremony, first dance, bouquet toss, garter removal then change to a more free dress that I can move in

I’m having my dress designer put hooks near knees to detach my feather train. So it’s like 2 dresses in one.

We both changed into reception outfits that matched our theme. We had plenty of photos of first look, ceremony, family pics & part of cocktail hour so we were fine changing. But it’s a personal decision.
