Wedding dress anxiety!!

Katie, on October 6, 2013 at 8:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I went dress shopping with my mother and two bridesmaids yesterday and bought a dress. It's completely the opposite of what I thought it would be...satin, a-line, train...I thought I wanted lace, flowy, romantic. I was up half the night and now woke up with my stomach in knots worried I made the wrong choice.

When I said "yes" to getting the dress I got it because it made me feel glamorous and special, but I'm worried it's not the right fit for our wedding. We're having a June wedding outdoors at a family farm, and I'm so concerned that it's too formal.

The other issue is that the color shown in these photos is not the color I ordered (shown in pewter, I ordered it in ivory)...and it won't even be here until March or April.

HELP!

I think it's a beautiful dress. You should feel glamorous & special!!

You could have the train shortened if that's an issue. Also, you'll have it bustled half the night.

Go try it on again to settle your mind.

I thought I would be getting a dress that was fitting. probably fit and flare. i loved the idea of lace as well. i am not very girly, and i never saw myself in a "princessy" dress. however, lace just didn't look good on me...and I shocked EVERYONE (including myself) and got a ballgown. i put it on and just felt beautiful, like a bride. everyone with me immediately said THIS IS IT.

i think that dress is gorgeous. sometimes you have a different idea in your head...what matters is when you put it on and feel the way you did. look at your smile in it! that's your dress

I decided on a dress... almost what I wanted but it was missing "something"... I doubted so much and second guessed myself that I ended up not buying it...

when you find YOUR dress you will feel sure about it.. even if there is something that you are not too sure about it you are not going to care since its your dress and you made it yours when you tried it on... my point is try something alike of what you wanted and this gorgeous gown... feel the difference and dont give up! If you can't sleep that is a signal!

Your dress is beautiful and your smile says that you love it. I would not worry about it being too dressy. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime occasion no matter what your venue is. The right style dress for any venue is the one that makes you feel beautiful and special.

I honestly think the dress is beautiful on you. And I think it sounds perfect for your wedding. You should feel glamorous in your dress and your wedding is going to look amazing with that dress!

I actually think the ivory will change the feel of it. The color in the picture is what makes me feel it's an evening-indoor-wedding type of gown.

I'm picturing it in the ivory, maybe with a pretty flowery sash... and it would def look beautiful for your summer farm wedding!

As was mentioned before, you can get a bustle and switch to that right after the ceremony, or cut the train down some.

In my honest opinion, you look absolutely stunning in that dress, and if it makes you feel good, than it's perfect for your wedding. But if your second thoughts are really getting to you, try on s couple dresses in the style you thought you wanted. If you change your mind quickly, the shop might refund or switch your order to store credit. Don't settle! Smiley smile

Many brides end up in gowns that they weren't even thinking of. If this dress makes you feel glamorous and special, then you probably made the right choice. Get the other idea of what you thought you had out of your head, because this dress is stunning!

I think it's gorgeous and flattering...in my opinion, it's not too formal for an outdoor farm wedding. I think satin dresses look really lovely in outdoor photos. But at the end of the day you need to feel comfortable, so it's really up to you.

I personally don't think a bride can look too formal for her wedding! Even if your theme is more rustic, you're supposed to stand out and shine!

The dress looks great on you and it makes you feel the way you should feel for your wedding. Just because it is on your family farm does not mean it can't be a little dressy. Maybe make your theme fit your dressSmiley smile Good luck!!!

Wow! I love the way that dress looks on you. The train and low back is pretty! It doesn't matter where your wedding is. It's your wedding day and you want that wow factor. Don't let anyone tell you any different. A bride should feel fantastic when she walks down that isle.
