Wedding Dress Alterations

Carly, on September 21, 2020 at 3:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

How much can you alter a wedding dress? I already bought my dress it just needs to be altered in the back a little. My biggest concern is just losing about ten to fifteen pounds to avoid drastically altering my dress.

It depends on the dress, but a seamstress can usually find a way to make the necessary alterations! The best bet is to bring the dress to the person doing the alterations so they can see it in person. That way, they'll be able to tell exactly what can be done with it and what your options/costs are for alterations.

I bought an illusion top/back, drop waist fit and flair when I weighed almost 200 pounds 2 years ago. At 162 ish pounds, I took it to my first fitting earlier this months and she is able to completely restructure the top of the dress to accommodate the over 6 inches of fabric that need to be removed from the bodice. On top of the normal hem and bustle and such. They can work magic, but if you're worried, bring it in.

Oh ok. You see I bought a tea length wedding dress off of jj house and it already had the zipper sew in so I was just wondering! But this answer makes me feel a lot better!
