Wedding dress alterations Help!

Tiffany , on April 20, 2019 at 1:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
So I bought my dress very early and I’ve run into the issue of gaining weight. With that being said I’ve been working on it and lost some of the weight but i have my alterations appointment on Wednesday and I’m scared as can be! I’m going to David’s bridal and I’m not sure they can take the dress out any, I’ll add a photo of the dress. Anyone have any advice on what I can do besides keep trying to lose the weight and pray that it works????

How far away is your wedding? If it's a long time from now I would wait to start alterations.

😮😮 if you're confident that you can lose that inch and I half in a month, I would do that. Tou could also just ask them if they can take it out and how long it would take

The bodice might be the most challenging part because of the applique. One option would be to have them put in a corset back. Take the zipper out and put the corset in will give you some wiggle room. In real life, if you haven't lost the 1.5 in it may be hard in the final two months when things are generally the most stressful.

I would go with the corset back that way it is adjustable. If you lose the weight or not, it will still fit and give the dress some extra inches if needed.

I feel your pain! I got my dress a couple months ago but have been paranoid about gaining weight since I seem to fluctuate so much. These past couple weeks have been nothing but parties, eating, drinking. Probably not the best time to try my dress on for the first time but I did and it didn't fit. Thankfully I have plenty of time to get back on track but this is my biggest fear! I hope you were able to get it figured out or have time to get back on track as well. Just know you are not alone!

I would see if they can change the back to a corset. That way it would lace up and could be as tight or loose as needed. Usually wedding dresses don't have that much room to be left out and if pieces were put in at the side they may not match.

My mom has done alterations to many wedding dresses. One of the first dresses that I looked at was discontinued, but too small. If I would have ended up with that dress she would have changed the back to a corset.

I managed to lose the weight but it was still a super snug fit so I added the corset back and love my dress even more!
