Wedding dress alteration help

Hi guys! I bought my dress (Provonias- Dracma) back in early February and it should be arriving in July-August. Anyways, the dress I purchased is off the shoulder, but I am going to have them do alterations to make it go up to the top of my shoulder. Excuse the fact the dress looks so low cut in a couple of these photos.... they only had it in a size 4 when I went to try it on and due to the fact it was way too small I couldn’t pull it up any higher. They assured me when it comes in my size 8 that it won’t be so lowcut. Anyways, I absolutely love my dress, but am getting worried regarding the alterations looking weird. Have any of you changed your sleeves in a major way? Or added additional lace on you sleeves? Also, for those who lost some weight before your wedding, did you lose it all before the first alterations appt? How many alteration appts did you have? My first alterations appt will be this summer and I don’t think I’ll be where I would like to be until fall.

If your wedding is Feb. 1 then summer is way too early to start alterations. I’d start no more than three months ahead of time. My dress is in the midst of being altered and I’ll have three fittings total.

Ahh good to know! They were suggesting starting alterations end of August, (5ish months before the wedding) she mentioned due to the holidays at the end of the year that they wanted to have it all finished up before Christmas, which is why I think they wanted to start early. But I would prefer to start alterations 3ish months before wedding like you did so that I don’t feel I have to rush to get off the rest of this weight.

Is Christmas really that busy for them? I don’t know where you live but summer is our busy wedding season so they start booking up in the spring and throughout the summer. The thing is is if you booked your appointments now you’d get priority because there’s no way they’re already booked up and unable to start your alterations starting three months out. I’d be peeved if they tried to pull that on me.

I live in San Diego, Ca and it’s always wedding season here haha. That’s a good point though, I’m going to talk to them about locking down some appointments so I don’t have to rush on the alterations.

Lol you’re lucky! Amazing weather year ‘round! I can see why it’s always wedding season ha. My alterations are supposedly going to be done this Saturday as long as everything fits and even being done 5 weeks out has me a little wary. I’d feel more comfortable if it were 3-4 weeks before the wedding because of potential weight fluctuations.

I had my first fitting in Jan. Then 3 weeks away from the wedding. And final pick up three days before my wedding. My wedding was on March 3rd. and I also live in Cali towards Anaheim. ohh and your dress is really pretty. I don't think you should be going in so early. Because weight changes...

I just want to say that I'm not a huge fan of form- fitting dresses, but you are killing it in that dress. You have the perfect body-shape to complement that dress style. I think the new sleeves will look even better! Good luck!

    Ashley.
I have exactly the same dress for my wedding end of September, and hate the way the off the shoulder starts so low down on the arms, so also want lace adding. My dress is two sizes too big.
First alterations appointment is next Saturday. Feel so anxious about it.
    Meh x
