I got a discount with our dj because we are having our ceremony and reception in the same venue so he wont have to move any equipment. I have found that djs can help entertain everyone, change the music if a song isnt working with your crowd, and help keep everything on schedule. The weddings I have been to without djs have had minimal dancing and ended fairly early (pretty much as soon as dessert is served and eaten).

Our venue is all inclusive, the DJ is provided. I’d definitely recommend having a DJ though, because they do help stay on schedule, they make announcements and keep things moving along. I say it’s worth it.

For our wedding, our DJ was a lifesaver. He helped with our timeline, made all announcements (cake cutting, first dance, last dance, etc.) and gave the event classy organization/structure. Our DJ even stepped in last minute when we unexpectedly had no music for our ceremony (long story! 😂). For us, worth every penny! Good luck ❤️

I definitely would go with one. They really help move things along and keep people going. We just emailed a bunch of DJs, talked to a few on the phone and found one we vibed with that had a package we liked that was within our budget. I think every vendor, but especially a DJ, should be spoken to at least on the phone before booking. You really can’t judge someone’s personality or whether you’ll click with them over email. We learned that lol

We found ours through a reddit thread actually! It was on a subreddit for our city, and there was a post asking for DJ recommendations. A whole bunch of people recommended their company, and we were thrilled when we met with them. I think they make a ton of sense as they can read the crowd, adjust if something isn't working, and keep everything on schedule.

I asked our venue for DJ recommendations. All venues will have vendors they have worked with in the last, or frequently, and enjoy working with.
Pros of having a DJ: good music, people will dance, it makes the reception more of a party atmosphere and fun!
Cons: In my opinion, weddings without DJ’s are incredibly boring! No one dances and people seem bored.
