Wedding Destination Packet for Guests

August Bride, on August 11, 2010 at 2:49 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

For our Destination Wedding, I thought I would send everyone who booked with us a Packet about the Resort & Island. I just need ideas of what else to add in.

So far:

Restaurants at the resort

Dress Codes

Spa Treatments

Excursion

Facts about the island

Any other ideas,,,I don't want to be too detailed on the Restaurants etc...just want it to be fun for people to read.

I think a things to bring would be good. Where are you getting married? We were in Punta Cana, and I told our guests to bring insulated tumblers for their drinks because the bartenders would fill up whatever and the little cups they had were ridiculous.

I wanted to do it at the atlantis in the bahamas but my FS said no (too much of a burden on the guests to come) so we are getting married in our church in NY... Thats a cute idea. You can also do a fun facts sheet about the bride and groom to add some fun to the packet so its not information overload lol

OOOHHHHHH I like that idea we're getting married in the Keys everyone's from New England so it's a US destination. I've been trying to think of things to give people. How to word invitations and everything!

I'm kind of doing this but just adding it all to the website instead of sending packets. In addition to what you have listed I am going to include the dates FH and I are going to be there (just so everyone know's it's from the weekend prior to our wedding not the weekend afterwards) and an activities page that has when and where we are hiking/snorkeling/beach day/aquarium/zip line etc. in case people want to join!

These are great ideas. I thought of just putting it on my website but I wanted to make it personal for everyone. I may ad specific adventures that I think each person would really enjoy (since I've been to the resort many times in the past)....

Yeah how about information on how to get from the airport to the resort. Also is everyone staying on the same resort or are people staying at another resort and then coming to the resort you are getting married at? If they are is there a charge to come on to your resort for the day? Schedule of events you may be doing. Welcome dinner, drinks, happy hours, pool time, breakfasts. I am guessing you are going to want to see as many people that you can since they have spent this money and time to come to your wedding.

Everyone is staying at the same resort, no fees to come to the ceremony & transportation is included (it's not in the US)....

I could lay out a schedule so people can feel free to meet us at any time and join in some of the activities that we are doing....

Well you most likely don't want people hanging on your every moment and I am not sure about your whole time there. What I have heard people doing in the past is for example if you are getting married in the middle of the week, before the wedding the bride and groom set up like two times during the day where they will be doing something so that everyone can meet up to hang, but also so everyone can also enjoy thier vacation. For example, one day breakfast at xx time at xx resturant and then cabana pool time at xx time. Day two lunch at xxxx and snorkeling at xxxx. Just and idea.

Jaemi,,,that is great....Do you have any ideas on a template I can use of our agenda??? The wedding isn't for a while but It would be nice to set some time aside for our guests! We for sure need alone time but the guests I have coming are so much fun and we want to do things with them! We are there for 8 days so there is plenty of time!

Beachbride - Have you been on bestdestinationwedding.com yet? They have TON of useful information on this type of stuff. I got a lot of good ideas for my OOT (out of town) bags from there. For information on the area, I just called the local visitor's center (not sure if they have these out of the country though!) and had them give me some area info and put it in the OOT bags.

Greeneyes - where in the Keys are you getting married? I just got married in Islamorada a few weeks ago! It was a destination wedding for us too. I LOVED IT!! So did all of my guests!

Just a quick tip if you are making OOT bags, I wouldn't bother putting sunscreen in them. Almost everyone who goes on vacation brings sunscreen, but they don't usually think to bring aloe. My guests loved that I put mini bottles of aloe in there because everyone got sunburnt one of the days and used them. Also my "Wedding Survival Kit" was a big hit. It included, Tylenol, Pepto caplets, Crystal Light packets, EmergC powder, and some mints.
