Wedding deposit

Jihee, on August 1, 2014 at 12:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

What percentage of total amount was your wedding deposit? The place i am looking at now requires to make 4 payments before the wedding day ( the last payment is scheduled 1month prior to the wedding day) to pay, in full, for the cost of food and beverage minimum and for holding our wedding venue plus sales tax plus service charge. Does this make sense ???

My venue only requires the site fee of $3000 and then everything else is paid after the wedding when final costs are settled.

Our venue isn't inclusive. We paid a 50% deposit to secure our date and will pay the second half 30 days before the wedding.

The venues we are looking at require a payment schedule as well. Each of them require 20% down and with a monthly payment schedule over 6 - 8 months.

We have an all-inclusive venue (location, linens, bartender, catering, cake, etc.) and we had to put down $500 to hold the date. I can't remember the details, but we then make two more payments very close to our wedding. Since we won't know the amount until we get the final numbers because it's priced per person.

We had to leave $1000 deposit with (I believe) everything to be paid in full two weeks before the wedding, but now I want to go home and double check the contract to be sure that nothing is said about a certain number of payments needing to be made

My venue isn't all inclusive, we're just renting the space. To secure the date we have to pay 50% and the rest is due the month before the wedding.

For ceremony it was divided into 3 payments with deposit 1st one. Reception was $500 deposit and I gotta go look at the rest. I almost have enough saved up for reception total anyways so it does not matter.

We paid $1,000 to hold it then $2,000 more a year before the wedding (I think it was) then the rest was due the week before the wedding. Our venue was all inclusive: the ceremony, reception, all food and open bar for 5 and a half hours.

I had something similar. We had to put $2000 down for our first deposit and then 1 month later another $3000 was due and 2 months after that 50% of my total balance was due. Final payment due 2 weeks before the wedding.

My venue require $1000 deposit, then half of the remaining balance 120 days before the event and the other half 60 days before the event. Seems normal to me

We made 50% deposit for our venue and then the final cost due I believe a matter of days before the wedding. Also caterer only needed 10% deposit, but since we changed our menu we haven't made this deposit. They also just need final payment 48 hours before wedding.

Each venue is different so 1 month due for your minimum seems reasonable. When do you have to give your final count? Because that's when I think you should have to pay the rest.

Ours is $200 to hold the spot, and then everything else (food & drinks) is due at the end of the night. The $200 is for the reception only, and is refunded at the end of the night. If you have the ceremony there, you pay $200 for the room setup fee, so it evens itself out.
