Wedding depending on fiancé visa?!?

Valerie , on May 16, 2018 at 4:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 2
Hello everyone, is anyone else trying to plan a wedding based on the timeline of the US government? We have an idea how long it will take to process his visa, 6-8 more months, and then we know we have to get married within 3 months after the visa is granted. I’m trying to prep stuff but it’s so hard without having a set date! Everyone says to just get married at the courthouse and have a party later, but I want to make it more special than that now since I’m sure we will get busy with life and the party may never happen. Is anyone else doing this?? Tips?? Please!!

Would you be open to eloping/small ceremony? You could probably find packages depending on where you want to get married and basically all you'd need to do is show up and you can have a small number of guests. You could reach out now to get ideas of pricing so you could start budgeting if necessary and let them know you won't have a date until the visa is figured out. That way, you can still have a special ceremony and maybe take your guests out for dinner or something, and have a vow renewal later. Just something to think about!

We had original planned to elope but my family was heartbroken that they wouldn’t be able to attend. A small ceremony would be perfect, I just can’t figure out where and how I can have it on short notice and pretty inexpensively!
